These Europe (Recaro based) seats were not USA airbag approved, so didn't make it to USA.
You can buy them in Europe - but very expensive. And not compatible with the US airbags.

I own a Euro-Spec GP and I don't recommend the Recaros.
The lowest seating position ist too high.
Go for the Recaro Sportster CS (the same as the R56 JCW).

So just a couple years later but I finally have a set of the euro delivery Reacro seats in my garage. Do you have any advice for swapping with the stock seats, was it as simple as plug and play for the airbag, and seat heater? Just disconnect the battery or is there a fuse to pull instead of disconnecting the battery?

The euro R53 Recaros don’t have the passenger occupancy sensor. You’ll need to install the proper resistor on that plug. Google search for “MINI R53 occupancy sensor bypass” and you will find details on that item.

The rest is plug and play. Yes, disconnect the battery.

I'm glad you found them. Any leads on another pair? I'm about to do the CS seats but these would be more stock looking.

Ah JackMac to the rescue. I was going to say, I was finally able to finish the install of both seats this weekend. As everyone said they were an easy remove and replace. The only sensor the Euro seats didn't have was for the passenger seat occupancy as mentioned. Currently I have the airbag warning light but I will purchase a bypass sensor this week. Seats feel great, a huge improvement from stock.

I will note for anyone looking to do the swap to make sure they disconnect the cable release (for the seat back to flip forward) from the seat back and NOT from the bottom of the rails at the tensioner unit. Removing from the seat rails was much more difficult.
