WTB: Euro Mini GP Seats - Recaros

I want to buy the Euro GP seats for my mini

I love the recaros, and want to get them on my car

Is there any way to get them from a recaro distributor that will be a close model to the stock GP seats?

Thanks

Anthony

they are not recaros, they are Sparco Demons, same as the JCW seat...

Wait - i thought these were the facotry recaro seats

I have a picture of them attached to this post

This is the seat I want to buy

In england, you can get three different sport seats

1: Mini Cooper Sport Seats like we get in USA
2: Recaro Factory Optional Seats like in the GP car
3: JCW sport seats like the Sparco seats

I want these seats in the picture

Thanks

let me know if you are buying them
maybe we could do a group buy on these
either locally or in the UK and save a few $$$.

The thigh bolsters look different (not as high) in the seat that nparker posted...

not big, but the ones you can get in England from the factory have the MINI tag and controls (slide, lift, fold). The GP ones are awesome. My brother has the stock recaros in his GLI, and they are sweet. They make u feel better, and the adjustable lumbar support feels good.

Do you know where in England I could buy a set of the GP ones and
how much they are going for?
(the one in the photo with red stitches)

thanks,
Charles

USA GP Owners

Indeed, some of the USA flavor GP owners would like the option to purchase the GP Recaros that everybody else gets!

Would anyone know where to find the part # of the GP Recaro seats? Those would be the black ones with the red stiching. Also if the mounting brackets are the same as the ones for the standard sport seats in the US. I believe both sides of the GP Recaro seats have the height seat adjustment. Maybe someone could veriphy that. Thanks Steve

To be honest I haven't had the time to look
but if someone does find the part # and where to buy them.
by all means post it here.

also remember to ask if they will fit our US cars.

I'm going to see if I can find out more info on these seats

regards,
Charles

Here is some additional info:

The GP seats, made by recaro sure look great.

Here in the US, the only seat close to that one is the Recaro Style,
The stock features are, lumbar adjustment, side bolster adjustment, leg extension. You can also have it with the comfort package, electrical adjustments, heat, and cooling fans.

Recaro does make an adapter ($120) to install a recaro style on the factory slider.

However, the style is not available with a seat airbag.

For liability purposes, I do not believe that the US Mini dealers will offer the GP seat as an upgrade for older cars, and Recaro for sure will not sell a seat with airbag in their aftermarket department.

Also we do not know if the GP seat will be compatible with the airbag harness system in our 02-06 cars.

I do have some recaro styles in stock, and I am available if you have any questions regarding these

thanks
Victor

Hi Victor,

What you say is in line to what we were told by MINI USA in NJ @ the GPs' special delivery. The Recaro seats (available in EU) were not installed and made available to the US GPs for liability issues, something to due with the passanger weight that cannot be detected and this will affect the deployment of the airbags. There is a more expensive solution - I guess the adapter - but for only 415 units the cost was to high therefore the GP seats in EU are cool the ones in US are just OK.

Victor, what are the chances to have some nice good looking seats in my GP? of course, I would like to ensure that all the safety issues are in place.

The bummer is also the fact that my Scroth harness I just bought from you last April cannot be installed in the GP. Therefore, the only thing I can add is the CG LOCK.

Hey guys...I too want Recaro's in my MC....I've already got the seats....they are Recaro A8's and there are not many pairs of them floating around..I had them installed in my 98 Jetta GLX and I need to do a little research on the install before I put them in the car...maybe some of ya'll can help???

As far as the airbag issue..the A8's don't have them but what I need to know is what happens when i disconnect the stock seats...I'm sure I'll get a red light on the dash, I need to know HOW to turn that off and will the other airbags continue to function properly?

Any of ya'll know of a place that sells brackets/rails that will fit my MC for a bottom mount Recaro (not side mounted as some of the race seats use)

These are my exact seats before I had them retrimmed in Porsche black leather....should match pretty well with my stock mini leather....

03's do not have the seat sensor, correct? I want the JCW seats front and rear. Now where can I find those? Downfall though is no seat airbag in the JCW's. But those GP seats will work.

Can't be done - those are worthless and to be kind I'll give you $50 for the pair

I know I've read that there is a resistor that can be installed to fool the seat bag circuit. Do a search and should be plenty of info.
