It's FUNKY not CUTE
It's FUNKY not CUTE
Ok, let's set this straight, from this moment on Mini Coopers are to be refered as Funky little cars. NOT CUTE!. I'm a 42 year old male, husband, father of two. I do not drive a CUTE car, it's FUNKY, maybe even QUIRKY, I can even live with PINTSIZE, but is not CUTE. Puppies are CUTE, All Babies are CUTE (at least to their parents
), even a movie can be CUTE, BUT not my MINI, it's FUNKY!!!
OK, I feel better now, my shrink was right
venting rules!!!!!!!

Sorry man, but all Minis are cute, even the most blacked out ones - its just the shape and lines (and size in context to other cars/trucks) - nothing you can do about it but embrace your cuteness

Cute is the way it looks - Funky is how it will smell after your passengers toss their cookies after driving with you it seems

Judging by the overwhelming number of teenagers (mostly girls) swarming all over the Mini exhibit at the Detroit Auto Show, it is apparently, a cute car. As a middle-aged father of two small children I also abhor the car being called cute (which happens often to me), but I just live with it since I knew what I was getting into.

You can have 1000 HP and it still looks CUTE
It takes a 40+ year old male like me,
that's very happy and secure, to admit that I own and drive a cute car. But I also don't mind wearing pink or other colors (favs are blue and purple), and have a toe ring! And my wife is happy with the whole package!
If you're happy in your own skin, the labels shed like water off a duck!
I like it being cute, as opposed to ugly like the recently deceased Firebird, or just harsh, like a Countach or an evo....
And we all know how they go, so live with it, and revel in the cuteness!

From a New York Times article on the science of cuteness, back in January (emphasis added by me):
"Scientists who study the evolution of visual signaling have identified a wide and still expanding assortment of features and behaviors that make something look cute: bright forward-facing eyes set low on a big round face, a pair of big round ears, floppy limbs and a side-to-side, teeter-totter gait, among many others."
Enough said.

I appreciate the sentiment Tuls since I really did not want a cute car and it was one of the things that made me not want a Mini at first, but although my aero grills may make it a little less cheerful I cannot deny that the overall shape of the car is indeed cute as they all are
The nice part about photos is that artistically one can put the car in circumstances, lighting and frame it in such a way to give it a different impact, perhaps emote different feelings based on what the photographer wants to communicate - but I can't argue that when Minis are on the street and in context with other things they are all adorable
