Too funny. Just a couple miles away. Do you remember Skateboard Palace at the corner of Manzanita and Cypress? Kind of a low-rent indoor skateboard park. My friend and I were on their "team" for about 6 months in 1978. We never went to any competitions, but we got to skate for free whenever we wanted to, lol. That whole block is a Bel Air shopping center now. If you haven't been back to the area in the last 15-20 years, you wouldn't recognize the place.

That corner was once the Westerner Drive In Theater, and next to that I remember a mini golf place. Used to shop at that Bel Air all the time.

Yep, I remember the Westerner. I think it was behind the skating rink/skate park.

Yes, and there was a long driveway to get back to it.

I remember British Motors was where Von Housen's Mercedes is now.

Now, that I don't remember, although I don't really recall being down in that area too much. Other than Arden Fair Mall, there wasn't a lot around. Oddly enough, however, when my parents first moved to Sacramento (and until I was 2-1/2) they/we lived in an apartment on just off Alta Arden less than a mile from where Von Housen is. The only thing I remember about that apartment is the day we moved out, lol.

The fact that there was a place called "British Motors" is quite a change from these days, eh?

Yep. That was the MG/Triumph/Austin/Jaguar/Austin-Healey/Jensen-Healey dealership.

I've never seen a MINI that wasn't cute. Everytime I see one I just want to go up to it and squeeze it

Who can hate cute? Makes me smile, especially after smoking any un-cute car on the curves.

I've heard Vette's called cute too. All in the eye of the beholder.

If a Mini is "cute," it's cute in the same way Bob Hoskins is cute.

I correct people when they say (not so much now) "oh a MINI how cute "

MINIs - to me - are not cute are COOL and I don't "dress them up" as I don't dress up my GSD, but I smile when I see "dressy" MINIs with flowers, vinyl designs etc... everyone can spend his/her money as they like it..
I dress my MINI my way... tires, wheels, strut braces, camber plates etc..

if some one starts a conversation about the MINI w/ "how cute" we talk about everything else but cars ..

A friend of mine, who owns a restored "69" charger, frequently teases me about driving a "girly man car". When I need a big manly machine fix I take my GMC 1/2 ton for a ride, but more often than not I'll take the MINI because it's so much fun to drive. So, call it cute, girly, George, Bill, Sue or Patty, who really cares, it's about enjoying the car and the road. Let's Motor

Find some serious twisties, and take him for a ride. Don't forget the barf-bag.
