^^^ We could easily deviate from this thread topic, however IMO it's important to evaluate where the car has spent its "life" as well as total mileage and whether continuously stored indoors or if driven in winter conditions. Aside from travel distance to evaluate MINIs of interest, avoiding cars that spent time in the rust belt or other corrosive environments was critical. Although my R53 has uniquely low total mileage, it was spared rust, corrosion and rubber/plastics deterioration by being stored indoors in the dry desert climate just south of my location. It's eye opening on the high percentage of vehicles resold by dealers in this area which Carfax reports reveal were obtained on auctions which originated from areas not local to the southwest region.

I prefer OEM vs the lets run all over town or on the internet trying to find hobo fixes that in some cases never look right.

That piece of foam can't really be changed without pulling the rad anyways. I sooner just give it a send off with the pressure washer and leave it alone

Highly optioned 2006 JCW in BRG on BaT.

My guesstimate for hammer price is $19,053.

Nice car, but the NAV is a huge nope. It's pretty tough from what I understand to get rid of it and install a chrono pack or a regular speedo.

Is that your guess because it's your bid?

Nah, just a wild ***'d guess on my part!

I'm with Nicefeet that I don't dig the nav package either and actually get more excited about 'poverty spec' low optioned cars, especially if slicktop.

But I must admit that one is mighty fine lookin' R53 indeed.

How about those poverty spec stickers on the rear bumper diffuser…yikes, way to ruin a perfectly good aero bumper, subtract $1k from the hammer price for the mis step lol.

I concur.

Eyebleach.

I do though really like all the tightly cropped detail shots and how many are provided.

Was wondering what/who/why about this supplemental p/s fan guard, from whence did it come?

Most likely wayback glory days when they had all kinda bits 'n bobs on offer eh?

I thought the PS fan issue was resolved on the face lift, probably better safe than sorry, those were big sellers back in the day if you didn’t want your steering to crap out.

Yes, they changed the fan design and they came with a grille. Unless you had an automatic from about 1/2005+ then it had the tube system and grille built into the belly pan.

Lots of people back in the day pre grille got these, i remember people at the dealership in 2006 saying they got a plastic bag stuck in their 2002 MINI.

Haha I don’t blame you, its not for me, its one of my many vulture friends, who has an appetite for JCW steering wheels, guess he’s gotta settle for road scraps. GLWTS, it’s a nice R53, Jet Black was my first choice.

Mostly NYST, great little gem upstate. R53 is perfectly suited for it as well.

I did the NYST a couple of months ago for the first time along with a couple of MINI track buddies. Had a blast. Perfectly suited for the R53, and much closer than Watkins Glen! Good luck with the sale of your license plate frame, and the rest of the car!
