Just installed JB+ about 2hrs ago absolutely amazing

My 2014 Paceman-S has been transformed. Unbelievable, its like it's had all of its inhibitions removed. Much quicker car now, I took it for a test drive a few min ago for about 45min, the thing actually startled me a few times. Its doing things that my mind does not expect and almost gets me into trouble. I now have to speed my brain up to keep up with the new spirited why that the car drives. Anyone who has not already done this then your seriously missing out on a whole different car that you have sitting there. Amazing, the JB+ is the best 289.00 that I have ever spent. grin:. Who the hell needs a Porsche.

Next stop K&N air filter.

Uh, maybe change a word in your heading. Wholly by definition means completely or totally, so wholly crap would send a negative message and I don't think that's what you intended. Instead, try 'holy'....loser case.

I bet you will be buying a tune within six months as you are so gaga over the JB. I had one and it was good but did nothing in the lower rpm range, therefore didn't keep me entertained.

This happens a lot, remember I take the JB+ in on trade, when upgrading to an ECU tune

I the manic sounds awesome accept that it can be flashed out if you take your car to the dealer. I guess its good for someone who is out of warranty.

Out the hundreds I have done, I have only seen 5 cars flashed and 3 of them because the
customer demanded it to be flashed to a newer version. I just charge a small labor fee to reinstall the lost flash.

I completely endorse a Manic tune from Mario. Super cool dude who'll answer any questions you may have and get it done quickly too. He flashed my ECU a couple years ago which transformed the MINI. It's linear and smooth with no surging, torque is EVERYWHERE. For an idea of performance from just a Stage 1+ I've had dead heats (rolling, not from a stop, MINI's kinda suck off the line because 1st gear is so short) with 335i's, 350Z's and Audi S5's (not kidding). Cars with 0-60's in the 4.8 second range. I consistently get around 400 miles to a 13 gallon tank (~30.1 mpg) whereas before the tune I only got around 375 (28.8 mpg). Extremely reliable tune as well. I've never had a problem with my MINI in general and I've put 40,000 miles on it since I bought it at 81,000. People who say MINi's are unreliable junk probably followed the factory maintenance schedule which is a sure way to kill any car!! Change your oil with BMW/MINI synthetic (ACEA A3/B4 grade) every 5K miles and only use OEM parts when you can. That's a different subject entirely, I've gone on a rant

I'm a total newb when it comes to tuning the ECU. My tuning experience is with a screw driver, a vacuum gauge and a bunch of WOT runs. But that's old technology.

Anyway is a tune worth it on a stock car?

Yes, a mild tune is certainly worth it on an otherwise stock car. Depending on how many miles you have on your car, I'd get new NGK Iridium 1422 (ILKR8E6) spark plugs gapped at .022, synthetic engine oil/filter and transmission fluid change, which are all super easy to do in your driveway. As far as removing your ECU, it's easy. It's a couple screws and clips and voila it comes out.

I recommend Mario Palza for a Manic Stage 1 tune. He's one of the few Manic authorized installers in the US. He'll walk you through it.

Thank you, iclancy,
The ECU tune is one of the biggest change you can make to our Mini's, even on a stock Mini.

OK. you got the JB now get the Sprintbooster and activate your sport button and you're all done. Anything you do will not give you the instant gratification for the amount of money or time spent.

Has the JB+ been shown to have any negative long term effect ?

That would be something to research before you spend the $ $ $.

Gotta say.. I'm still digging the JB+ very much. I don't think the car can stand being any faster until I upgrade the suspension. She's damn near dangerous at this point. Especially, the torque stear at 98-mph. Hate to see how she behaves at 250hp.
