M7 OCC drain valve Mod

The M7 Oil Catch Can (OCC) is truly a nice product. However, when evaluating the installation, I noticed two things. 1. The location defined by M7 was the best location within the engine bay for mounting. 2. emptying the can periodically was going to be a royal pain. M7’s solution is a drain plug at the bottom of the OCC. Getting to that drain plug was going to require un-mounting the OCC each and every time to access that drain plug.

The following defines an option that I came up with that will drastically reduce the amount of emptying/maintenance of the OCC. It involves replacing the M7 12mm x 1.5 drain plug with a 12mm x 1.5 drain valve and a piece of tubing that routes to the bottom of the car. Now, all I need to do is reach under the OCC and flip the valve lever with my fingers and the contents will drain out through the tube into a drain pan that I place under the car. Flip the valve back into closed position and the OCC is ready for its next couple thousand miles.

Below are photos and the specifications of the parts needed to modify your M7 OCC.

Parts needed
12mm x 1.5 drain plug
2 foot of 3/8” Rubber fuel line
3/8” hose clamp

Thank you... It is a "no brainer" mod in my opinion

Aha, a Fumoto valve with separate drain hose! I use one of those on my F-150 6.2L and Jeep Wrangler 4.0L engines! They work great! http://www.fumotousa.com/

What is the weight difference between the steel can and the carbon fiber?
