I don't see what would be the point of that - they are expensive lights if you're not going to be able to use them.

You should be able to disable the DRL with NCS Expert programming.

Sorry, but what is that?

Is that the software that the dealers uses to re-program the cars with?

Yes, dealers use NCS software, but many owners here have been reprogramming cars on their own. There is a ton of information on this forum -- do a forum search for "NCS".

You must be technically proficient and it isn't for the squeamish. If you are unwilling to do it on your own, ask around and there might someone in your area who has NCS and might be able to program your car.

I have a pretty good relation with my dealer, so I think I will just ask them to do it when I am ready. That way, if anything is messed up, I have someone to guarantee their work!

But you said they told you that they couldn't do it. People are using NCS to set options that dealers couldn't (not allowed to), and sometimes they don't know how, if it's something they don't normally do. However, you would be only moving the position of the DRL's and it should all be legal.

Yeah they did say they dunno how. But if as you said, they can use NCS, then I am sure they just haven't done it before, but if they look it up their manuals, it would seem to me that they could figure out it somehow. But nonetheless, I will definitely wait for a while and see if they will officially release the kit for Canada. And when they do, I am sure they would provide instructions to the dealers as to how to go about disabling the headlights DRL. So for now, I will just keep waiting!

I have a Canadian-spec Mini but I've used NCSExpert to remove the Canadian coding from my car so that it has the DRL option in the BC menu, same as in the US. Definitely thinking about ordering up one of these kits since it'll work fine on my Mini, although the installation looks a little intimidating. It's a great look for the car, that's for sure.

That's probably the way to go. There's a good import auto shop nearby that I haven't used before, but they could do it if they're willing. What instructions did you give your guy to use for the install?

I did mine yesterday, bought the lights from the UK so $460ish with shipping, ordered last Tuesday got them on Friday. One note on the install instructions, the control module in the footwell has two large pin connectors and the instructions say to tap into the wire of pin 12 on the 51 pin connector which is wrong, you tap into the wire of pin 12 on the 53 pin connector which in my car the wire is grey and connector is black, otherwise everything else is straight forward and plug n' play. took me 2 1/2 hours but I had to remove the driving lights to get the grill removed

For sure, I really like the transition from DRL to headlights on with the top quarter lit. Very happy with the result and they don't look cheesy like the aftermarket stuff

Those new Audi's and BMW's ain't got nothing on us now! My fav part is seeing the halo reflection on bumpers and store windows. Looks way cool. Head turner for sure. Did you remove front bumper or headlights?

No, just loosened bumper enough to have space, removed left headlight to route wire harness. Off to work now so I can buy more mods

I am thinking seriously about taking the plunge on these DRLs. Have any of you covered the lights with any stone protection? My headlights are covered with the same protective coating as the front paint (clear bra).

Also, is it still a 2-3 hour job if you remove the headlights to install?

Thanks!

Took my mechanic 1.5 hours to install. He is very experienced. Expect it to take you longer.
