That would be way too bright, trust me. These LED lights are amazingly bright.

The DRL control box won't allow that - when the headlights come on (whether for manual or automatic reason), most of the DRL is turned off. That's not in the car's coding but in the new control box that comes with the DRLs, so it probably isn't override-able.

I suspect the only thing for Canadian owners will be to wait and see if Mini makes the DRLs available from their Canadian dealers, when they would have worked out what to do.

Oh ok. I would have joined that club too if they didn't charge for it.

Yeah I guess that's what I will do too. I just contacted the parts guy at my dealer and they said the part is not available for Canada yet cuz it still needs regulatory approval upon testing. I don't know if MINI will ever submit the lights for approval though. But the parts guy said these things will usually be available eventually. So hopefully they will be available by next summer, if not, I will just get the parts from UK!

Yeah...and it's getting worse! I just checked in with my local Mini Deal parts guy...now "hoping" for September 18th, apparently 1,000 coming into Miami.

Us price will be $504.00 +. So might as well order from the UK for ~ $450 delivered.

SuperGreg, I have to tease you on this! You spent how much on lights that came without instructions? I would think any Mini forum that could provide insightful help would be worth $25 membership.

And yes, that's the pot calling the kettle black as I haven't joined...yet. I just sold my 2005 MCSC yesterday, so the lights and membership are very high on my list! I've got to find someone in S. CA to install them, though!

Hi, I got install instructions for free at total mini.com. I forwarded those to my mechanic.

I bit the bullet and ordered from the same place as SuperGreg at http://www.minigenuineparts.co.uk/mi...2_338_554.html for $462.53 at today's conversion rate, delivered. Not sure if my credit card is going to add anything additional onto it or not...but at least I'll have a confirmed ship date! I really hope these don't have any technical issues...have no idea of how a warranty return would work!

If anyone knows a good installer in O.C. CA, please let me know!

Coding required for these to work? Ex. Xenon DRL > LED ring.

That's right - no coding required. The only thing needed is to switch off the DRL menu option if that was on before (and if your car comes with a DRL menu option).

Anyone knows what to do when your car doesn't come with a DRL menu option?

If the headlight DRL is not disabled, then what will happen to the Fog Lights? Its position light and fog light will still work right? So only the DRL circle won't be enabled until the deadlight DRL is disabled? Please advise!

You mean you don't have MINI connected? What year is your MINI? There are DRL options in personal settings on non-Nav/connected cars.

I got a Canadian 2013 GP2. So no MINI Connected. And no option to disable the headlight DRL on the tachometer.

So with no option to switch off the stock headlights as DRLs, you will only ever get 1/4 of the LED ring lit up as a position light and never the whole ring. Makes it a bit pointless to fit the LED DRLs until/if Mini come up with a solution for Canuckian owners.

I just heard back from my dealer too. Even they don't have a way to disable the stock headlights DRL as well since they are required by law. So I guess I will either way and see if MINI will release the LED DRL Fog Lights with a work around for Canadian cars, or I will just get them from UK and have to live with not having the whole LED Ring lightened up! :(
