I have a 2009 Clubman S and love it. There are a few things that bug me...

1. Auto dimming rear view mirror is huge. Seems way to big.

2. As many have said, brake dust...

3. When using iPod, the in-dash computer read out only displays a couple of songs. It takes way too long to scroll. That screen should be much larger.

4. I get the intrigue for the center speedo (it does look cool and always get comments from passengers) but I never use it. I set my on-board computer to show the speed (which gives me outside temperature in the small window). So, I like the center speedo, but it seems like the dash space could be better used.

5. Bluetooth with iPhone is unusable. The syncing is great. However, I have to shout and mess with the volume every time I get in the car to make sure the ring volume doesn't scare the crap out of me when it rings. I think it shakes the whole car and feels like I got shot with an alien death ray.

6. Boot Barn Doors. Again they are cool and fairly unique, but I seemed to always have to open both for what I put back there. This is a pain when you are carrying a handful. I have a Honda CRV with one large door that opens to the side. It is much more useful.

7. Bear Trap Doors. I will throw my wife a bone here. This is something she hates. If you don't open the doors just right, they slam back pretty hard. I think she thinks it will take off her lower leg or something. Need to get that scene on video. Doors don't bother me.

8. I am a soccer coach and am constantly putting the back seats up and down for soccer gear vs passengers. When you put them up, the seat belt always gets stuck between the back of the seat and the locking mechanism.

9. Run Flats. They are coming off tomorrow. Worn out after 25K.

10. Seems like they could put more small storage areas. Glove box is not very useful. I do know about the secret Mini compartment in the dash. Honda has this figured out. They have a change drawer that slides out of the dash and several other compartments.

11. AC. Two issues. First one is that the High fan speed could be a bit higher for me. Second, I wish I could have the air to come out of only the four front vents excluding the large vent on top of the dash. I would like to have both options.

Sound like a lot, but most of them are minor. I would buy this car again in a heartbeat!

You would think after 3 1/2 years of ownership I would know how to figure out that radio on the R56. I will be trading the R56 for the Countryman and I hope the radio on the R60 is better.

DneprDave: Thanks, I am aware of the button on the fob, but that does not work for me. I need there to be a button that I can press while the car is running, with the fob in the ignition (long story, but it would make dropping off the kids at school every morning a lot easier). I thought there would have been some kind of other manual release button inside the car somewhere, in addition to one on the key fob. oh well.

Brake dust is always a problem on any car. Nothing to hate there.

The inaccurate speedo. I know it's part of the european law for automakers.

Had a sunroof on my 03 R53 and swore i'd never ever have it again. Have a Laurel edition now that came without sunroof.

Runflats, i'll say it again, they're fine, treats me good. I'll buy a couple of sets (summer) from those who doesn't want them at a very reasonable price. What i hate most are tires that are noisy. Runflats are damn quiet on the highway.

I hate the auto down up windows, you gotta have impeccable timing to have open just right otherwise it goes all the way up or down. PITA if you ask me.

Amount of water getting in when opening the door or windows when there's precipitation.

I HATED that the car didn't come with floor mats as standard. MINI talks about premium when comparing to other makers yet they can't even include floor mats as a standard.

Hate having people ride in the back kids included .

Overall, LOVE the car and not going to let anything ruin my enjoyment.

ahh, I completely agree with the amount of precipitation falling into the cabin. Honestly the most annoying thing I can think of so far with mine Had a lot of rain today and plenty of water came in when I opened the door, I had a fit.

My only complaint is the ipod sync, like others said too small of a screen and takes a bit too long to load (might be because of my 20gigs of music lol)

Try 150 gb. It's so bad that I switched to a spare 30gb iPod that I had laying around and only have 5 gb loaded on itj to keep the playlist small. I scrolled for *15* miles on my old iPod before I got to Minutes to Midnight one day. My arm and wrist were tired.

I don't like how the door lock toggle switch on the center console works.
You never know if the doors will lock or unlock unless you turn and look at the position of the manual door lock buttons on BOTH doors.

If one door is locked and the other is unlocked then you have to try the toggle once then look and see... if not what you wanted then toggle again.

I want it to always lock when the button is pressed down and always unlock when the button is pressed up.

One more complaint is the runflats that come on the car and the fact that there is no place for a spare, put new tires on it and picked up a wheel and tire off a mini in Nebraska for $125, still has a good tire on it too, going to have to just carry this around in the boot

1. The fact that it doesn't work with my Zune, charging it through the usb interface, and playing it through the aux cable.

2. Another thing is the center arm rest that's supposed to hold a cell phone in it. Everywhere I drive, I have to keep sliding the armrest pad back into the locking position.

I found something that I don't like, and it is only because of the metric f*#kton of snow and the cold temps in Erie. When you get a build up of ice along the bottom of the window, it won't roll down when you open the door. I have never had a car that did that, and I ended up scraping the ice away with a credit card because I was paranoid that I'd break the window!

Still, with just over a month of ownership under my belt, I absolutely love this car. I want to start a collection lol.

Just purchased the 2002 chili red cooper S TODAY. Love every bit of it! Although it does not pull like my 2008 speed 3 but so far I love it! It has Hankook V12 tires and no sun roof! The mechanic who sold me the car said most of the older generation coopers front deck rattles like hell. This one does not rattle at all. 2002 Mini Cooper S Chili Red, White top 81k miles. It was a great deal.

I feel your pain on the Zune. Got it all hooked up and still had to play it thru the aux cable!!!!

Too many wires.

#1 The sunroof. Noisy when open. Hot when closed. Rattles always.

#2 The seats. "Sport seats" my azz... at least in an R53 w/ leather. Our R52 with Sidewalk leather seats a little better... Other R53 seats I've tried (cloth and pleather) are only a marginal improvement.

Hmmmm, only had my 2011 MCS for 5 weeks now but,,

Hate the cup holders

Cannot pop the hatch without shutting off engine when picking up or dropping off kids at school

HATE the tiny little ding I put in the edge of the drivers side door. Hardly visible but its driving me crazy.

Hate the lack of a decent clock in the display, radio display of time is just too small

I hate the fact that my mini crapped out shortly after i bought it. I drove it around for about a month and a half before it developed a huge issue. Broken piston and broken camshaft. Worst part, the dealer who i bought it from refused to help in anyway because it didn't have a 90 day warranty . WHAT!?
sigh.... my car has sat now for about 2 months, good news is a lot was done in the past few days. I now have replacement engine with half the miles of my original and at a great price if i might say so myself. Only issue is i need new damper . Im having a hard time deciding between ati super damper and a fluid damper. Any suggestions? I could just get stock damper from bmw and get car running today. help please
