By the way, Most cars have the larger speakers in the back because.... are you ready...

THERE IS NO ROOM IN THE FRONT FOR THEM! lol

You would never go to a concert and sit backwards would you?? Same concept applies to car audio, with a good front sound stage there is no reason for rear speaker unless you enjoy rear fill. This is another reason that mini has the cut on the stock 6x9's in the Hifi option, so they will not overpower the front stage.

Ok so I couldn't resist, I had to reply..

By the way, back to thread topic.

What I hate about my Mini, is that I can't park it in my living room..

[quote=yetti96;3183499]The other side is the rear fog lights I do believe, they tried to get all of these functions into those little tail lights and not clutter up the bottom of the bumper.

that makes sense but I have a rear fog lamp? how do i turn it on haha

If you have a missing toggle switch on the dash, then you don't have a rear fog light, just a lens for one. For some weird reason, the rear fog is an option.

No, but I have been known to go to concerts and wear hearing protection (i.e. ear plugs). To each his own...some like it in front, some like it in the rear (so to speak)...

OT though: where's that guide to tinker with the H/K system?

this one is silly, ive gotten used to it but it seems like every passenger hasnt. i have an 02 so i dont know if the new ones still do this but when you put a turn signal it doesnt tell you which way you are turning.

i hate the front cup holders. they are good for just soda cans, nothing else fits! also the fact that none of the cupholders fit a travel mug or thermos .

I've never understood this complaint (you are not by far the first person with it).

don't people know which way they pushed the signal stick?

I guess MINI heard enough people complain about it that they started having two indicators in the 07+ models.

those are cup holders down there? I thought it was for spare change, sunglasses, etc. then again, my mini came with the "oem aftermarket" cup holder that's sticky-taped to the passenger's side center pillar.

Cup holder? I use one to hold a microfiber cloth to dust the interior, the other holds a beer can real well!

So what if it doesn't fit your favorite mug, get a coffee cup that fits your MINI, problem solved!

Here's a link to a good description of what the HK system can do, none of which is included with the owner's info.

This does not seem to apply to the H-K system in my 2011 MCS. It mentions several "Modes" that are available, on mine I only can adjust bass, treble, balance and fader.

I haven't had time to read all the "hates" but here are mine. I've only put 500 miles on a brand new 2011 MCS too.

1. double pull on the locks, why can't i set a custom function with comfort access to open the locks when I turn off the engine?
2. Is it me or does the gas pointer (tells me which side the gas cap is) wrong? The arrow points to the passenger side...
3.Lack of informative gauges from factory
4. Is it me or does the downshifting while braking a little aggressive? It makes for odd or unbalanced braking
5. Cupholders pointless. Can't row down window if a cup does fit there.
6. Recline lever is in such a weird spot

I'm sure there will be more

Is it something that can be tweaked on the pre-amp/amp thing in the boot? Are there settings there that can be changed?

Regardless, it's dumb...any controls should be accessed on the stereo equipment up front, IMO.

Currently it's the glovebox, it's opened more in the past couple of months than the whole life of the car! I know, saw a thread about fixing it, another issue I hate is the gold plated parts.

Yeah, thats pretty annoying. They took away the engine temperature gauge. At the very least they could have put it in the visible onboard computer

The HK modes refer to the HK available in first gen minis

That's the one gauge I keep finding myself looking for. Hell, I use it in my Odyssey to see if I'm up to temp on a cold evening.

A long time ago I had an Alfa Romeo that had two warning lights in the bottom of the temperature gauge - one was for high temperatures and one was for low, with the handbook making clear that the engine was not to be worked hard until the low temperature light had gone out - lots of drivers could do with that.

Exactly. All of my Miatas came standard with a temp gauge, and I never wound the car up until I was at at least 160*.

I would say the lack of gauges and the cupholders that grab drinks and never want to let them go until you pull the lids off the Dunkin Donuts cups.

Had mine for a little over 2 months now...I'd have to say the rain that gets in the car when you open the door...the double pull on the door handles (which I think is because of the autolock) and the small cup holders....although I have that aftermarket one that attaches to the side panel next to the radio.

I don't know why people are complaining about the sunroof--the thing is awesome! can't imagine my mini without it
