What You Hate Most about Your Mini???
The sunroof alignment causes major wind noise and I have to cycle the sunroof to get it back to normal road noise levels. Also, I hate having to worry about if the sunroof sticks when opening/closing it in the summer after sitting in the sun for a while. What's the point of a sunroof that has problems in the sun?? And I'm in Wisconsin for god's sake so in the summer it's not even that hot relative to other climates.
But I love my car nonetheless :D

For me, which I'm sure has been stated a million times... is the carbon build-up on these direct injection engines. I have an '08, which I guess was an early gen to the direct injection switch ('07 - present), and the early models are more much more prone and almost a guarentee to have it happen every 28-30k. I bought my car used, but it happen to me at 58k, and now again at 89k. I'm not much for betting, but I'd put money on the idea that if I pull a CarFax report, it happen to the previous owner right around 28-30k, like clockwork. And with a walnut shell treatment procedure that runs you an average of $500-700 at the dealer, who may or may not cover it under warranty or cut you a break under "good will" - it sucks to hear you have to just live with it.

Just add carbon cleaning to your regular maintenance routine every 30-50k.
My 14 Clubman will not do it either.
I'm not sure if that was a feature for an 09. It was added somewhere between 08 and 12. How many colors does yours change to? The earlier ones had fewer colors and didn't automatically cycle.
i can handle spending on the repairs but driving it on a bright and nice sunny day… and then followed by a CEL drives me nuts! WT# is that all about????
That's definitely the early version. The later version adds a very distinct green, also cycles through yellow and almost gets to red. That's the one which has the permanent cycle mode. (Which you get to by holding down the toggle for a long time (10s?)).
I never liked the old VW style door lever that's set in there trigger-style. To make it worse, my driver side latch doesn't work well and I have to reach in from the passenger side about once a week to pop the latch. My hands are bad, so it wouldn't be as bad for others, but even friends trying to get in often protest "It's locked!", when it isn't. I wish we had regular pull handles, as we do now on the generation F.
I hate that Mini has done such a great job of selling a car as a self esteem booster.
That you cannot criticize the manufacturer without drawing personal attacks from members and moderators on a website.
That people defend their rotten child no matter what it has done.
Attaching your personal feelings to a thing is foolish. Not expecting service from the manufacturer, because your car is cute, will only cost people money. Accepting low quality performance, because your car is exotic, is also costly.
Sure love your car, but expect it's dad to pay the child support.

Sunroof $200!! (for a piece of plastic and fabric!? WTF?)
Installation $400!!

Yes FOUR HUNDRED BUCKS. If this isn't extortion then what is?I've had it with MINI dealers and their attitude of "rip em off now, rip em off whenever you get the chance." It's the same at each dealer. When the car breaks down, I'm dumping the entire brand. This is my first MINI and it'll definitely be my last.
Pretty much every customer support call center uses scripts. Believe it or not, they do actually decrease call time overall and increase efficiency, even if they're incredibly annoying for the customer. The net outweighs the individual results.
(Note: I work for an IT services company that runs service desks for the government.)
It just doesn't matter what car company you deal with
You might feel that you are getting ripped off but remember that all dealers use the motor guide as to how much time it will take to do a job and they charge accordingly. There are techs out there that can do a 2 hour job in one hour tech gets paid for two hours as does the dealership.
If you think that other brands are better you are mistaken.
Friend's Toyota Highlander new battery $500
Honda Accord paint chipping problems on Red color. Known problem Honda says not our problem but yours
Honda Odyssey distorted windshields says not their problem, have to push to get that replaced.
GM. Can't trust them
Ford Serious problems with Escape Focus and Fiesta (transmission)
VW. Cheating you the consumer
I could go on but keep this in mind.

I still would have been better off in the terms of money buying a Tacoma.
There's a reason why MINI ranks dead last in every survey, but oddly has a lot of repeat buyers
I'm starting to think that MINI owners are into BDSM and self abuse

The fact that I've owned it more than four years and it's been in perfect condition only six months... Not it's fault, but it just seems to be one thing to the next with it whether it be a fender bender or some part going out that causes me to park it.
