I would probably only get the JCW for the aero kit. Just because I'd rather run aftermarket parts instead of the JCW parts. Don't get me wrong I LOVE my Mini.

But the JCW is a lot more than the aftermarket stuff gives you. The engine and suspension comes preconfigured with a lot of goodies that a standard S doesn't have. Take a JCW and then aftermarket it with a bunch of add-on goodies and you'll have a BOMB!

I hate the dash rattle, the lurching at low speed acceleration (bumper to bumper traffic speed), $1200 oem pistons, the electric power steering pump whine, etc, etc. I actually prefer the ride "quality" of the '82 VW caddy i just got over my '03 R50. probably won't buy another BMW built mini again.

The little pop i hear going over bumps coming from the cabrio top... however, if its sunny - i remedy this by putting the top DOWN!

Agreed

I agree with you kid, especially the double pull to get out. I have never had a problem with the sunroof, got rid of the run-flats. The car drives and feels like a different car. Sounds like the complaints are not coming from the first gens owners!

Note that the Factory JCW comes with the exact same base suspension as the Cooper and the Cooper S. The sport suspension and the JCW suspension are optional upgrades on every model.

Seatbelts. Passenger side has a tendency to rattle a bit and the driver's side is angled in such a way as to slowly slit my throat after a few minutes.

I know that is because of the roadster design and having to place them lower. The fix is to use a heavy clip to pull ita couple inches away from my neck. Less safe -- probably, more comfortable -- definitely!

Oh, and of course, visibility with the top up. But I know there is only one fix for that -- put the top down!

I hate that my R53 does not have the optional LSD

Grip is a thing of the past all the way through first gear...not to say it isn't fun...but I would like to be able to give it hell in first without destroying my Conti DWS...

The best thing I did when ordering my MINI was choosing the Black Star Bullet wheels. They're virtually the same color as brake dust and I never see the dust. The wheels always look good, even when the car needs a wash.

However there are a couple things I find vaguely irritating:
1) Brake. Dust. Seriously, the brake dust I find when I wash the car is INSANE!
2) Fragility of the paint.

Other than that, no complaints. I love my car. :D

I have a hatchback and have the same problem with the seatbelt on my throat. You don't think our minis are trying to kill us do you?

I too hate reaching the seatbelts. I also hate the lousy gas pedal, it's like an on/off light switch. Finally, I don't like not having a one touch sunroof toggle.

I use an electric leaf blower to dry my vette and mini. This makes drying so much easier.

Thanks, Meboko! I didn't know such a thing existed. Now I won't have to drive around with my right thumb looped into the belt all the time.

HA! Thanks for the great laugh!

The things I "hate" are that 1) Husband, who only drives (and likes) trucks, now "steals" my MINI every single time he can. He's figured out that, with the roof racks, he can take it surfing, biking and skiing, therefore leaving me stranded most of the time. Also, because of the great gas mileage and the ease of parking it, he takes it for errands, which last a lot longer than it used to. And 2), he thinks it doesn't need the windows tinted (or the moon roof) and that it's perfect the way it is, straight from the dealer. I had planned on doing a couple of mods to it as soon as we got it home, but he said "no way" - weird because don't men usually like to mod their cars? He modded his truck the second day it was in our driveway.... So yeah, I can say I "hate" those two things.[/QUOTE]

Exhaust burns...

I hate leaning into the cargo area while wearing shorts when the rear seats are down and burning my shin on the hot exhaust pipe tips (Cooper S so they are center rear of the car, probably not an issue on a justa)

Have you had the tailpipe recall? There's a mod they make to make the pipes not stick out so much, so you don't burn your shins.

What I hate (more a slight annoyance) about the new MINI is the features they removed from our earlier MINIs.

You can no longer close the windows using the physical key from the outside (only if you have the alarm or comfort access).

The computer always displays speed up top, so the computer displays only 2 thinks at once, not 5.

If the car is off, and you hit the odometer reset, it no longer displays the time in the tach

There's no clock button, so you can't set the radio to display the time. (Wether the car is on or off).

My radio displays the time. No NAV, not HK, just plain radio but with the Sirius equipment. Mine's a 2011 MC.

There's a clock display on the radio but there's no clock button anymore. On the older models there was a clock button on the lower right. If you hit that the radio just displayed the clock, in larger, easier to read digits (just like when the radio is off, but the radio is still playing). The button was one of 2 ways to display the time while the car was off, both of which have gone away.

Oh, thanks, now I understand.

2)bus driver sized steering wheel

but its fun to kick around in, roadtrips with the sunroof open, snacks, tunes and good company
