Cool! I have their 14mm to 12mm conversion stud package on the way. I have a Mazda in the garage, and then the lug nuts are all the same.

I didn't see anything around the oil cooler/exchanger, but I didn't think to check the OFH while I was under the car, but classic BMW leak so that would check.

New DEPO halogen headlights, my passenger side Xeon stop working, even after new bulb replacement. Pretty sure it was the wiring disintegrating inside the housing.

I don’t do much night time driving, but if the halogen isn’t enough, the set of rally lights, just sitting here from MinimanAdam, can go in to help.

Replaced front pads with same G-loc
GS-1 ones yesterday. The rear ones
still have quite a bit of life left.
Didn’t replace the rotors this time
as they measured 21.6 mm.
The Zimmerman (not slotted, not
drilled) rotors and the GS-1 pads
make for pretty low rotor wear,
and the surfaces had minimal
grooving. The stock rotors with
the stock pads eat up the rotors
much faster and don’t last for 2
sets of pads.

Continued sloughing along on the rebuild.

• Installed new VC
• Intake and exhaust manifolds back on
• Cat and heat shields
• All of the engine bay cooling hoses installed
• Put the front clip back in place

Have a bit of cleaning up to do and some other bits need to be ordered. The mounting piece for the AC line near the alternator was broken - don't recall that when I disassembled, but a new one is on the way from FCP. They're local to me, so I can pick up items same day. Also need a lower radiator hose. I pulled the radiator out - I had a new aftermarket radiator to go in that I had picked up locally from someone who didn't need it, but it's wrong. So the used Behr unit will go back in for now. Swapping out the 'silencer' on the hot charge pipe with a WMW straight tube, and then once the front clip is back in place have a catch can to install.

Probably just 2 or 3 more evening sessions left

I’ve had the opportunity to swap out my column on my wife’s F56
the telescopic feature was stuck as fully extended

It was stuck, no in or out, no amount of force was able to get it to retract. Today I completed the swap ($85 part on EBay) I tore into the existing and found the source of the problem.

On the bottom of the column there are 2 stops for all the way in and all the way out. There is a riveted bracket that the stops come to rest against.
Hmmmm, bad design because the stops can roll past the stop and then get stuck in the stop bracket. At least that was my issue. It was not repairable so it went to scrap metal bin. The replacement works perfectly. Telescopic wheel now functions like new.

what a fun job this was (no, not fun) 4 hours start to finish. It took me an hour to get the air bag off.
:(

The images are of from the defective column that’s now in the scrap bin

Previous post by njaremka, cool R58 mini mini
did you find one to paint or were you lucky enough to find one in Silver and black?

I’ve been searching for my own R58 Mini Mini in chili red with silver roof

What I did? Looked at its engine, sitting sadly on the mechanic's shop floor, with its spun bearing. Head developed a crack between water jacket and oil return, and the bearing didn't like it. :D

New crate engine going in.

So, the person with a screen name of a character with a black cloud over his head, says that his engine went the short route to Mount Doom….

Are you are asking about this badge? If so, you've replied to the wrong post

This was a present. But based on the packaging it appears to be from this seller: https://www.etsy.com/shop/BeatenPathDesignThe badge is smaller than popular 3" size. Also, it's held by adhesive, not a magnet. I wanted to mount it on front, so printed out custom holder and attached it to the grille.

Ok, this was last weekend, but I included a 3.5hrs each way diversion in my 1000 mile total road trip to get a color (and stripes) matching hood for my daughter's Mini. This is to repair some damage from a small accident my kids had around Christmas last year.

(My truck and the other items from my road trip are in the background)

I also scored an extra set of R52S front fender braces ($90 shipped, if anyone wants them), along with the front and rear bumper covers, radiator support, cowl, and front fenders/wings. It was well worth the drive.

Received my new shocks, water pump, thermostat, crank pulley new water pipe (in ECS Red)and a few tools for R58 from ECS Tuning yesterday
ordered Friday.
Arrived yesterday. Across the border, crazy fast. I wasn’t expecting it until next Monday.
I worked with them via forum, e-mail and over the phone. I’m unbelievably impressed.

Rock Auto could take a lesson as to how to pack a box and to correctly deal with clients.
ECS is now my go to for all things needed for Chili *****.

I’m driving an R58 with a build date of 09/11
Started the water pump and thermostat housing installation yesterday and discovered that I need an adapter wire ES2558172 for the thermostat.

When I ordered the thermostat there was a note in RED that indicated this along side the part description. I should have asked the question and paid closer attention.

If your car is within the build date listed and if it’s the first time the housing is being changed, you WILL need the adapter.

To your knowledge, are those the S2P6 MINI LA Wheel Rip Spoke wheel
my car originally came equipped with that style in 17” but I’ve had trouble locating an image of them.

I bought it with the 18” Black cross spoke wheels already installed.

I went out for some good Thai food today and parked my JCW in-between two huge trucks. I did not realize just how small my car was until I had this view of it...

I'm learning how to really appreciate just how small and compact these cars really are yet the fun factor you get from driving them is thru the roof!

Nice picture! Thanks for sharing. Some people complain that MINIs are getting bigger and bigger with each generation, but the reality is - all cars are.

True, but not all cars started out pint-sized. To me, the bloating of the MINI is in some ways worse than the bloating of an already bloated idiot monster truck. By the way, @cakJCW , my classic Mini could fit in either of the beds of those ridiculous boats.
There's a reason (actually, many reasons) why it was voted the car of the century...

Badge of Luv

I did nothing but clean the daily wasteland dirt off my Mini today (and every day )....

I did, however, finally get around to replacing the Mini wings badges on all my key fobs today. I had ordered them from China about a month ago,...
Pictured above are my original Mini keys and a couple of yet to be cut and coded backup FOBs. (As I had posted in another thread; I had once lost but finally retrieved one of my original Mini keys. Before it was returned to me, I had to purchase 2wo replacement keys with serial boards to have them cut and coded...)

This weekend I'll find a nice quiet shaded parking lot and perform my 3,500 oil and filter change regiment.
