Took Blue into the wilds of mid-northern VT to go skiing. Blue has the best snow tires and, for a dusting to an inch or so of snow, they are probably better than the BF Goodrich KOs that are on our Wrangler. On the way home, there was a white-out squall that put them to the test and they did well. As well as any SUV or 4WD PU. And the frostheaves put the Koni FSDs to the test. The ride is great with those, but some of those bumps did send the suspension to its ends....
Today Blue got a hot water bath to wash the salt off.
Smokey got taken out on the dry roads and highway to get it good and warmed up, and rub the rust off the rotors before being put back away on the battery tender to await the next snow storm and deep freeze sets in next week.

Reason: correct typo
Just a very small project today. I was planning on pulling the old rear bumper skin and putting on the new (to me and in great shape) skin. But it was going to rain, so... just new JCW logos on the calipers.
Plastidipped the... quarter panel? Body panel between hood and door? (Yeah yeah, just did it to see how it will look. May actually vinyl wrap it to make it a bit cleaner if it grows on me).
Put in a new a right headlight as the previous
owner somehow managed to break the
projector mount in the old one allowing it to
flop around inside at random.
Put in new D1S bulbs in, too, Osram Xenarc
Night Breaker Laser. A little brighter and just
slightly bluer than stock.
Replaced the brake wear sensor that was broken when the brakes were replaced. Rock auto.. $3.67!!! Turned key on for 30 seconds, both lights went out!!! Bingo!!
Went from Cardinal Red to 632 Cyan (blue) trim color. Had too many Subaru's gunning their engines next to me at stop lights. Had to many people wanting to tell me their MINI stories in the parking lot...
Sterling silver logos, after all, I am in the land of silver and turquoise.
Gave her an oil change today, Mobil1 5W30, Wix filter... Check engine light came on, po341,342... cleared the code, came back on after starting it to leave the store.... ut oh... camshaft sensor?..... going to look into it tomorrow.... I replaced the VVT solenoid for the exhaust a couple of months ago (PO015) , but not the intake.... related???
Changed out all the bulbs in the interior to LED, as well as the license plate. It's a lot brighter and thankfully all the bulbs matched in color. Makes the car feel a lot newer and there's no chance of missing something in the car at night!

#211 ... on the way to Dinner (with two couples of fellow MINIacs) last night after work the "Service Engine Soon" popped on (most likely that stupid vacuum line under the inter-cooler, AGAIN) but OK .... then on my drive home from the restaurant my "Brake Pad" warning light came on .... I was thinking but I just serviced the Brakes ... Oh, no ... that was 18 months and three race tracks ago ... oops!
Oh, Well and it is only 450 miles away from an oil service anyway.
I got them on Ebay. Here is a link to them. I paid 179.00 for them. Takes about 2 weeks for him to make them. Plus he has loads of different color options. Not hard at all to install. You will have to take the seats out to install. Just make sure you unhook you battery before removal. You have to unhook the air bag plug along with heated seats if you have this option. Took about an hour to do everything
I love coming to this thread every few days just to see what others are up to...
My Friday project:
Late last week I removed the decals from the hood. They were faded and chipped and just made the whole car look sad. It was a royal PITA, and I finally had to break out the industrial strength 3M adhesive removed but I finally got things cleaned up.
Today I finally got back to the project. I clayed, polished, and waxed the whole car. The paint looks like new, with the exception of a defective spot of clear coat near the surround decal.
I used alcohol to remove the wax where the decals were placed and used soapy water to float them into place. Then put another coat of wax around them. A heat gun turned out to be my best friend when getting the decals to lay flat around curves. I also added rally name tags on the rear windows. Not sure how I feel about those yet.
Looks great. I used a gum wheel to remove the left over adhesive left by my mini emblems I replaced on the hood an trunk. A drill plus the gum wheel works wonders on decal and old adhesive removal.

Lol... I could have used that idea a few days ago
I still have to remove the adhesive from the license plate surround area. I still have to apply that decal.
