took mini to nascar track

Not exactly. I took advantage of a bit of sun break today to go grocery shopping and wiggle Mini's new joystick. I got a bit lost and came upon this local German dairy which has some most unusual stuff for kids and young people.

Mini thought this is a Nascar track ; but it is a velodrome for bicycles

then Desire wants to go kick some butts

began the process of fixing the audio set up; removed back seat and found some spilled white stuff from previous owner (sugar).
Research has led me to presume my HK amp is bad (2004 R53). I don't (DO NOT) want a used amp, I've already purchased a new Pioneer HU and 5 channel 640 watt amp (Precision Power i640.5)
What I haven't determined yet is if I can use the existing speakers with the new equipment- each is 2 ohm, so a stable 2 ohm 'should' be suitable, or I can wire in series to make 2 channels, 4 ohms each? experience is appreciated, I'll continue searching the forums

Replaced the oil pan, pan gasket, did the valve cover gasket, did the cps o-ring, replaced both window regulators and motors. Ok, the gaskets and o-rings were over a couple of days. Trying to decide what I want to do next weekend. Definitely replacing the hood release cable and interior trim piece....need to do the supercharger sometime soon

mini harbors a colony of amoebae

I was cleaning Mini's floor console and I discovered something that I have never noticed before. Amoeba. Not one, but a colony of them amoebae - lowlifes !

that texture on the plastic console and many other trims have colonies of amoebae

tell me they are different

I had some time to kill and a little extra vinyl left over so I decided to color match both emblems

Well today I think I broke my new-to-me Mini.

I was trying to check the oil life register. I followed the instructions in the owners manual but that didn't work.

Next I followed the utube & held the 2 buttons on tach down.

Got into the menu & was triggering the turn signal button, but obviously did something wrong.

Now CEL comes on when I start it up.

I screwed with it some more & got code 301 to show, but couldn't clear it.

I made an appointment with a repair shop later this week.

I guess it is tuition for school of hard knocks . . .

car and burrito

The days was too nice to let Mini coop up at home. We went for a no rhyme or reason cruise looking for Mexican food. This time I want to find a hole in the wall one that might be good. Eventually came upon this one in a strip mall with mostly Mexican shops. Looked promising especially the cool car parked in front.

a white Z7 Vette

it belong to the guy in the red t-shirt

I complemented his car as soon as I walked in, knowing it must be the owner's

I ordered a pork burrito and it is very good

nice and tender porky pork

We struck up a good conversation about cars. I showed him photo of my GT car. He didn't quite get the Mini though. I normally am not too crazy about Vettes though I respect their performance. This white one has to be the best looking Vette I have seen. Good Mexican food!

I got the rear fog lights working with NCS Expert! All I needed was a toggle switch and a couple lines of code, and now it works. Oddly, only the driver's side turns on by default, and another line of code needs changing to get both working.
Also, I got the key fob to fully open the sunroof, and remotely close the windows (instead of just opening).

I clay bared all the horizontal surfaces including the bumpers and top of the hatch. You won’t believe all the s@$t that came out of the paint. Now smooth as a babies bottom.

Nice. I've read about NCS Expert but haven't tried using it yet. I've wanted to get my rear fogs working too.

This occurred yesterday, but after about 4 months of Egan sitting in the garage for the winter, I decide to take him out once again. He is old, worn, and a bit tired, but he is always willing to say, "Screw it," and come out to play.

Egan may not be my daily driver anymore, but I refuse to give him up. Later this spring, my plan is to perform some clutch, supercharger, and other engine maintenance. It's going to be an interesting adventure when the time comes.

Removed the aging factory stripes. Took forever, had to use a hair dryer and take up a couple inches at a time. I can still see a slight outline of them, hopefully goes away after a few months. Looks so much better though, they were cracking and fading.

Installed a ECS stubby antenna, LED running lights, and debadged COOPER S on rear. Had to use some Meguiars rubbing compound to get the ghosting off, looks great with a naked rear.

I like big brakes and I cannot lie...

Since it was due for a brake service, I went ahead and added the JCW sport brake kit.

I installed the mini fini in my R52 and also I discovered that the ticking noise in my car was coming from the exhaust. The driver side muffler had one rod separated from it. Took it to the shop and got it welded back.

I want to shoutout to Stacy at Mini Fini for all her help. She sent me the installation guide for the mini fini and assembly instrucions for the bike rack.

I can forward those to anyone who's interested.

Ordered a set of four Cooper Zeon RS3-G1 tires, NON-run-flat, which may be installed tomorrow, 4/4/18. Can't wait! I hope they actually live up to their rave reviews.

When the OEM Continentals needed to be replaced, I was looking for something a little cheaper and quieter, and I let the dealership talk me into a set of Hankook Optimo H426's. They were definitely cheaper & quieter, but the car's original sharp handling response was completely gone. Maybe it's a strange complaint to make about a tire (being made of rubber), but they felt rubbery by comparison to the OEMs.

I'm looking forward to getting my go-kart back!
