Ha! I am getting like 13MPG in the city this week as I have the heat blasting. Luckily I just paid 1.09 a gallon for PREMIUM!

Premium is still hanging on around $2.19 - $2.49, depending on station. I want some of that premium you have... where ever that is!!!

Got my Mini back from the dealer finally. They used clear RTV around my tail light upper seam to seal it. I will be sanding down the seam and using brush able and paint able seam sealer on it. The dealer also did an inspection on my car. I need to replace the LCA's and ALL of my power steering lines.... Just what I needed. Time to start ordering up some parts... Power Flex bushings, sway bar bushings, inner and outer ball joints with the matching bolts, and all 3 power steering lines. Anything else besides power steering fluid?

Replaced both front tires on the MINI yesterday. They were down to 2/32" so it was time.

Just received word that my Powerflex LCA bushings from ECS were billed to my account. I assume those will be on the way shortly so I can swap out my OEM bushings that are junk.

DLs and R58 lip

Well, to be honest did not do this today, but did just complete this recently and only now got around to taking pics. I finally completed my external mods and cosmetics on Tess, my '13 R56s:

Added chrome OEM DLs, and also changed the spoiler lip to an R58 lip. I like the new lip better, especially in combo with the DLs. Also, some time ago made my own 'JCW style' side scuttle variant, will try to find a better pic of that. What do y'all think?

my own JCW style scuttles

Ok, found a better though older (pre-R58 lip) picture of my JCW style scuttle:

I took the stock MCS scuttle, dremeled off the "S" after back-filling with resin, and covered the area with fake carbon fiber vinyl application. That's it. Also replaced stock side marker light with 'smoked' LED light.

About 5k miles into ownership, my first big issue arose. R53 is overheating like mad, coolant bubbling out of the expansion tank, and has been left at a specialist to be looked over. All happened this morning. No issues last time I drove it on Friday.

Unlikely, fan was spinning at full speed and was actually replaced just over 25k miles ago.

Yesterday . . .
  • Put in a new (used) steering knuckle.
  • Flattened the mushroomed strut tower.
  • Installed the fourth and final Koni FSD strut.
  • Installed the WMW strut top plate on that side.
  • Installed a new driver side door brake.
  • Swapped in some R50 black side scuttles.

Getting closer!

Still left:
  • Get brake calipers back from powder coater.
  • Rebuild calipers, install them, new rotors and new pads, and refill the brake fluid.
  • Put in a new ABS sensor.
  • Get tires mounted and balanced (one winter set and one all-season set)

For last couple of weeks, I had P0507 (Idle Air Control System) CEL code showing up. So, finally yesterday, bought MAF cleaner and cleaned MAP sensor. No CEL light so far.... Also, since IC was off, I swapped old lines to my OCC to new red APC silicone lines.

How did you flatten the strut tower? I notice a bit of mushrooming on mine last weekend at a Cars and Coffee thing we do here every month.

Here some DIY's

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ollection.html

I jacked up my front end , put on jack stands. Dropped the strut mount down a bit by undoing the there nuts , Then eye it , block of wood and hammer, test it first with smaller hits, then use larger hits as you determine the bend rate of the metal. Start easy first.

Then ones flat, install ECS STP

Lowest I've seen it here since I've been here at about $2.75 for premium in SoCal area. Heard in Michigan it was/is down to $.74!
