Installed a DT Tensioner Stop in less than 20minutes. Yes the engine was still in the car!

400 miles with the MINI and BBQ? Sounds like one heckuva day to me!

Got some window cleaner called "Stoner's Invisible Glass" and cleaned the windows. No more bugs on the windscreen. No more bugs on the nose of the car as of yesterday....

So of course, I had to take a spin around the central part of AZ up in the hills and get some new bugs on there!

Mesa -> Wickenburg -> Yarnell -> Prescott (stopped at Whiskey Row for a pic) -> Mingus Mtn. -> Jerome -> Cottonwood -> Mesa....

Yarnell:

Between Yarnell and Prescott:

Whiskey Row in Prescott:

Scenic view from Mingus (too bad the camera didn't pick it up for all the haze--the overlook of Sedona was BREATHTAKING!!):

Ouch, sorry to hear that. I've read a few posts regarding cracked windshields and am definitely not looking forward to that. Do you drive in areas that have a lot of rocks being kicked up by other cars? I'm just curious if there's a reason some people seem to have more frequent windshield breakage than others. Hope your new one lasts a lot longer than the previous one.

Both times on the interstate. The first time passing a truck, the second time going thru a construction zone. Just unlucky I guess.

I think it probably has to do with the angle of the windshield. I drive the PA turnpike everyday, and my Acura TL would get blasted no matter how much room I left in between me and the car in front. When you are doing 70-80 mph on a busy highway, especially with trucks, rocks are unavoidable.

The would hit the TL hard, but never shatter the glass due to the low profile of the window. The Mini's windshield is much more vertical. I have yet to get hit by a stone yet, but I will bet the first one that hits it will break it... And I can tell it is a new windshield that the previous owner had to put on...

I dropped my MINI off at the spa (dealer) to have a little bit of rejuvenation. I should be getting her back in a day or two.

Cleared codes to get out of the limp mode. Changes my plans for tomorrow morning.

Took the CB radio out this afternoon as well, time for an upgrade.

Cobra 29LTD Chrome coming out, and a Galaxy 919 will be going in. Was a Cobra 19 Ultra III before that. My biggest complaint with the 29 was that the blue glow on the white headliner was mildly distracting when I turned my head to check the blindspot. The Galaxy will have red indicators (hoping it'll match the gauges closely) and a better dimmer control, and I won't have to worry about broadcasting CH19 when I switch to the PA speaker.

Came out in like new condition (I had to wash off a few fingerprints and that was it), being mounted right behind the passenger seat worked a lot better than I realize it was.

Check out the CB in a MINI thread...

They're excellent tools if you're on the highway with any regularity.

Today I registered my new MINI at the DMV (after some fiasco yesterday where they didn't like how the certificate of origin went, today I went to the one closer to my house and they took care of it with no questions) and later will be getting a windshield chip repaired.

I've only missed my Mini horribly. Just took delivery on 3/31 and was sent out of town on business the following Monday. I think it's called pre-mature weaning and I've not been dealing well.
