What did you do to your mini today?
I also tore everything out of the inside of the car to replace the speakers. I installed a 2000 watt amp underneath my passenger seat, perfect once that foam is removed!! I added spray insulation all in the rear speaker cavities since it is wide open to create much better acoustics. I installed sound deadening on all of the panels, and left the stock HU in. The rear were 300w 6x9 infinty reference speakers. The front are 5.25 infinity reference components with new tweeters and crossovers mounted in the door, with all new speaker wiring ran to all of the speakers. Definitely sounds ssssooooo much better than the stock system. The front speakers did not come with an adapter, so I used the old speakers, gutted them, and made 4 holes in the plastic to mount my new speakers on, which then bolted right on. Worked like a charm!! Hope to create a custom sub box in the back at some point, since I have a 2006 I dont have a defined area for one.

Washed it, then put on its first springtime coat of P21S.
A couple weeks ago had polyurethane control arm bushings installed, a new right outer ball joint, and 3 count'em 3 leaks
(oil sump gasket, crank position sensor O-ring, and right transmission shaft seal. Lots of labour $$.

I know I wanted to but that was a much larger project than I thought it would be trying to squeeze it all in one day, which turned out being 4 am. Luckily others have taken pictures of all the steps. I did just make a custom mount for my iPhone that uses one of the bolts on the side pillar by the radio on the driver side. I had to replace the bolt with a slightly longer one but I am testing it as I type. It is perfect since I always use my aux input with my phone and can easily check emails. I wanna live in the car right now though my wife would probably divorce me haha.

I took mine to a general motor mechanic to have them put in -- only cost me $19.66, well worth the money and they made a big, big difference.

I was going to do it myself but I'd have had to buy jack stands and maybe some tools and ..... I took my inserts to my local mechanic and it was all done in 10 minutes!! I sat on my inserts for about two months thinking like you; then just went to the mechanic -- very relieved.

When that happens to me, i blow their doors off and add a bogey graphic to my front quarter panel(depending on what they are driving, of course!).

Here are the pictures of the mount. I used part of one I bought, so part of it has the arm that can bend left/right and up/down which you can see is the skinnier part, plus the front where the phone rests rotates 360 degrees. I decided to wrap the bottom metal part in black electrical tape to help protect my pillars, so it was not just metal rubbing. It is plenty tight to not move when driving, but just lose enough to where i can still tilt it up and down more if I need to. With the bottom of that mount open I have my car charger plugged in, and I just left the aux input loose and brought just enough out to plug in instead of mounting it anywhere, because it was just extra work. It does not look store bought up close, but when you are just sitting in the car, you cant tell, so I am quite pleased with how well it turned out.
I took a piece of pipe and cut it to about 3.75". The actual mount had a tiny screw where it screwed in to the old suction cup type mount, so I drilled a hole in that pipe and screwed it in, which made for a nice snug fit. Then the other end I hammered it flat and hammered it over a pipe to give it a little curve to kind of match the curve of the pillar. With out that, the mount would stick straight in the back of the steering wheel which would not help, and then I drilled a hole for the bolt. The bolt did have to be slightly longer than the stock one, I could not get it to screw in, I will paint that screw black. And if I ever need to remove it, it takes 30 seconds to unscrew the one bolt, and there is no evidence of it!

Tinted the side corner markers in front and back. The only thing left to have a completely black-out Mini is the Joey-mod. I'm still trying to find out if performing the joey-mod will decrease the lighting efficiency of my projectors...
