Pixs? I keep hearing about the glossifier, but haven't seen it here in Cactus Country yet.... I'm thinking transparent and glossifier might be a low cost alternative to the overpriced vinyl clear bra to protect the nose from rock chips if the glossifier works well....

Ground off the road rash on the rims from the previous owner, and plasti dipped the trim ring on the wheels. 4 coast of red and 2 coats of glossifier. Painted the lugs red as well. Also altered my logo slightly to have a little fun with the people behind me ......:0)

Nice. You know what I discovered? Lysol Cleaning Wipes work just as well, and are easy and super-cheap compared to those polishing kits. No masking required, just grab one outa the jug and scrub the yellow oxidation away. If they're really bad, you'll probably have to do a couple passes, but still, they're super-cheap, and no masking is required, and once you get 'em clean, it's easy to keep 'em clean....

I'm getting my other half of my sign on bonus from the military.

So I'm hunting down a bunch of exterior goodies!

Carbon Fiber, gas cap, handles, hood, fenders, mirror caps, LED tail lights, and new grill

Thanks Swimbaxter. It was a very long day in the garage (with all the midwest heat) but well worth the change. Not sure of the durability on the plasti- dip but at least I know what it will look like if I decide to use real paint next time.

Have you had it replaced before? Looks like you fall under the 13 years/150,000 mile extended warranty.

http://www.motoringfile.com/2013/06/...nty-extension/

edit: Oops. Looks like the recall/warranty extension is only for 2002-2005 models. Now you are probably REALLY pissed!

I discussed the issues with the local dealer the dealer I purchased it at and MINI Canada and it looks like they might cover it under good will taking it in to my local dealer Monday....I'm extremely pissed that the recall only goes up to 2006. This car has given me a lot of headaches and I'm thinking about giving it the boot. I love to drive it, it's super fun but it's just not reliable enough for a car that has such low mileage

Think I finally have a firm understanding of the understeer during quick and sharp left turns at higher rpm's in second gear with those hard runflats spinning. Now for the right turns,..

Kirby got a new hat - I put on a cargo box today. The only obstacle was that it required tweaking the OEM roof rack in order to mount it on center - had to pop off a couple of the little fins on the underside of the front crossbar. Fortunately they're just attached with doublesided tape.

Now I can put the seats down to have room in the car for my St Bernard, and carry the spare tire and luggage up top. MITM here we come!

Took it on an actual MINI club drive today. It was cool to see a line of MINIs in front of me.

Got it ready for its first track day. EBC Yellow pads up front, brake fluid flush with Motul RBF600, SS brake lines while I was at it, free camber mod, rotated the tires, installed CG-lock. Washed it too.

installed
  • Powerflex lower control arm bushings
  • Powerflex front sway bar bushings
  • Powerflex lower engine mount bushings
  • Powerflex gearbox mount bushings
  • Black tow hook in the front
Car really feels alive now (I had 90K miles) and vibrations from mounts is barely noticeable

PRetty minor, but I installed the CravenSpeed Flexpod in my Countryman. Now I can use Waze for navigating or just avoiding traffic.
