Yep did the same thing except I used a ebay tow hook for the mounting stud so I could go into the stock tow bolt hole.

Then I had the swivel hook to mount in my pickup bed to use as a center tie down for the dirt bikes

I changed my front ABS sensors in an attempt to get rid of the warning light trifecta. The lights are still on.

Upgraded my stereo today. I replaced the factory head unit (non-Harmon Kardon) right after I bought my MINI. Ever since, I've been unhappy with the bright blue light coming from the display, while everything else is orange. So, today I bought a new HU that I can change the color of the display. Also I made sure to get HD radio built in. So now I have Bluetooth, with hands free calling, XM, HD radio, pandora, and I can charge 2 iOS devices at once, or have a USB thumb drive full of music, plus my iPhone at the same time. So far I love it! I'm a tech geek and any time I can combine electronics, and my MINI, is a perfect day for me!

Working on the GP today

I had a great Sunday morning working on my MINI GP. Replaced the mirror caps with new fresh ones painted in Chili Red (which is original for the GP) as my original ones were pretty beat up. Installed a new hood scoop painted in Chili Red (keeping the original Thunder Blue one), replaced the black GP sticker in the scoop, installed some outmotoring.com wheel arch reflector tint over the corner lights and painted my rear calipers in red. And smoked a cigar I love this car.

Lots to love about that car, willieboy. And a hood scoop that's moving towards the new GP. Nice.

I installed a set of Phillips Crystal Vision Ultras. I like them. They're making my parking lights look old and tired.

Washed and waxed (Griott's Best in Show) the Coupe, and gave her a mirror make-over.

Installed new JCW style grill from Outmotoring.

Overall, looking nice I think! Glad to be rid of some chrome and the old grill slats.

Two thoughts: 1) the fasteners that come with this absolutely suck, and I just couldn't get more than a few of them to work. They are just tiny nubs of metal you are supposed to screw onto plastic posts (not round, x shaped) and thread it as you go. No thanks. Installed real metal nuts and they seem to be holding ok for now, but I could see needing to find a better fastening solution in time.

2) the lower part if the grill just clips in, awesome! But it doesn't work with the oem front license plate holder. Purchased the Grimmspeed tow holder and will work on patching the 2 small holes in the bumper in coming weeks.

Honestly, the holes are not too noticeable as it is, so I hope it's an easy, smooth fixup.

Yesterday I didn't really doing anything to my mini except drove it around, looking for power inverter, getting ready for the hurricane. I went to 5 auto stores, needles to say they were all sold out. The last store I went to, while texting, about to go in my car, I hear a voice saying "that's nice". Then I looked up trying to see where the voice was coming from and made eye contact. The guy says "that's a nice car." I said thanks and drove home. I didn't get the inverter but at least it made me warm and fuzzy.

I used Goof Off (regular strength)

Sprayed it in a small bowl. used a model paint brush to apply ... wait about 5 min put a bit more on . ... wait 5 min and used my fingernail to start the peel off.
Bout 95% of it came off in one careful peel . then used the paint brush to remove the lil bits. then on more application of GQ .. let that sit and use a very clean (white) cloth to get off the remaining glue.

Then wipe with the clean whit WET cloth to remove and dilute any GO left behind.

The visor material does get a bit soft so don't manhandle it. seems like if you pushed / pulled too hard it could stretch.
(I keep saying "clean white cloth" because on MINI #1 in 2003 I used a old blue shirt and it took me as long to remove the blue left behind)

The IKEA mini load up is a favorite of mine as well... Amazing what they can hold with those rear seats down!

As for what I did today, ordered some OZ ultraleggera wheels 15% off at tire rack. And since I'm so close to the shipping center, they should be here in 2 days with the cheapest ground shipping! Yay!

Installed a ScanGuage II; just waiting on the proper mount to get the GPS and SG up on the steering column.

I really like the info the SG provides.

Got my Craven iPhone 5 mount. Awesome! iPhone for maps, directions, music, all voiced over Bluetooth and mounted near my tach is so close to perfect for me. Craven makes great stuff.

How close to real time does the SGII update? Is it super quick, or a slight delay? How was the install?
