Those DWS are the go to tire for the Audi allroad forum members. If you don't see snow where you live, the DW is the better choice, apparently.

I've got the Hankook Ventus V12's on our MINI. Far better ride than runflats, but not as good a tire as I'd like overall. Dry traction is pretty good, but I'm guessing wear and noise will line up well over the miles with the reviews given here. Good for the price, I guess.

Imola's. Kind of a strange name so I looked it up. It is of Roman origin and means "over there, down there". Something about looking down on an intersection in the town of Imola - also the San Marino Grand Prix was held at the Imola track in Italy from 1981-2006. The area surrounding Imola is home to Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati.

So there is your history lesson for the day.

Finished installing a TyrolSport Shift Rx Short Shift Kit on Tackleberry (2009 MCS). I have it on the 10% reduction setting right now. I am going to try that for a few days, then I am going to try the 40% reduction setting.

I took my 2009 S into the dealer to have the auxiliary water pump replaced under warranty, since the previous owner did not. After the computer run, it showed the brake fluid and inside air filters were due. Got out of their with a $294 bill but everything is up to date.

Tomorrow if not tonight, it will be a car wash by hand, one the outside temps decrease.

Love this car and driving many more miles per month than I ever have. Since the day I bought the car, I'm getting 32.5 mpg, matches my gas caddie on my iPhone and I drive it like a sports car most of the time.

Installed the trailer lighting kit for the MiniDoMore hitch I put on in January. Got it at eTrailer.com. Good price, even with expedited shipping.

I had Ernie from Peak Eurosport install an BSP Oil Catch can today up at Minis in the Mountains. Ernie installed it for free while I rode in the bike park. You can't ask for any better service.

I added an AUX jack to the stereo and plugged in an XM radio.

I plasti-dipped the horizontal bars of my formerly chrome grille on my R52 last night. That stuff is really easy to use because it is viscous and shrinks well as it dries, so it is hard to make it run and it dries smoothly. I used flat black, so it isn't supposed to be a smooth texture, but it is nice and even all around. The first run I did yesterday got a piece of dirt trapped in it. I just peeled the plasti-dip off and redid it imediately. Pretty nice. It matches the black of the lips, sills, and fender flares exceptionally well.

I haven't used gas caddie, or cubby, but I do use Fuelly. They have an app, but they also let you send it a text. If you text mileage, price, and gallons used (m, p, g), they log it and text back with your current and average mpg. The text you send would look like "34052 3.459 12.52". You can add an identifier for the vehicle if you track more than one, or any notes you like. The overall data is also available on their website. It has good provisions for tracking partial fillups or skipped fillups, etc.

I imagine it's to help lower under-bonnet temperatures or to give more access to cooler air to the air intake, but what do I know, I have an R53, with a functional scoop....

I did my hood scoop and grille slats with flat black also, to cover the original body color in a reversible way (in case I didn't like the look), and I found that it matches the black plastic body parts so well that the mod almost looks stock....

Because the Series two MINI scoop is non functional, removing the phony scoop grill helps reduce under hood temperatures and reduces the chances that your plastic hood scoop will melt.

I might be imagining it, but I thought I saw a kit to direct half of that scoop area to the airbox and leave the other half open for cooling the engine.
