tempting, since i don't have a garage or a shed to work in i'm limited to bolt ons for now. I have been keeping an eye out for that sweet deal on an extra long block though

Engines are held togeather with bolts. I rebuilt a HONDA motor once in my barracs room at FT. Campbell.

I'm still missing my MINI today. Part for repair won't be delivered to the dealer until tomorrow.

I believe it; there are many more commoners than nerds out there.

Driving today and was reminded you must drive with two hands on the wheel! Poor rutted city streets, new winter tires and a jab of the throttle = toque steer even in fourth gear at low speeds. Better check my tire pressure is even just in case.

I think it's also time to go the retrofit lumbar route on the leatherette seats soon...

I used to work with a consulting company that would use the term "UTS" at the client site, as in "It was a UTS error... I took care of it."

UTS stood for User Too Stupid. :D

When I was in IT, we got bugged for 'new operating systems all the time. I guess they figured it would solve all their problems. We regularly took their laptops, ran a registry fix, emptied their temp folders, copied any juicy facts and wiped their stupid wallpapers. We would tell them that it was upgraded and they would leave us alone until the next time they tried to run 87 different we pages and all of their programs at once.

The best part is that last year, I got my little brother hired on to do that for me and it freed me up to switch jobs. Now I am the Creative Director and I refuse to call the Helpdesk when I have problems.

I do "web applications programming", but only get paid for plain-old "programming", which is two grades below what I actually do. I still have to interact with users when they want something, but don't get the extra $$$ to put up with them....

I was supposed to pick up my MINI today at Ralph Schomp. She is in for a new clutch, flywheel, and bearing, but unfortunately they called and told me she needs a new tranny! So another 2 weeks, tranny coming from Germany, so I'll go pick up my loaner instead!
Anybody know if Schomp has loaner MINI's? I'll just be happy to have a car, but it would help if I could drive a MINI even if it isn't my baby......

I know the feeling. He gets paid for Helpdesk but is expected to be a network engineer, security system specialist, applications programmer and Level 3 administrator.

They usually do. They didn't have one when I needed one, but the dealer paid for the rental from Enterprise.
