Team Justacooper
Another not entirely stellar driving outing for my Cooper.
Went to a two day event at Le Circuit Mont Tremblant outside of Montreal. The first day is standard HPDE stuff (driving school on a race track). The second day is 2 30-minute long "practice" sessions, then everybody gets 3 timed laps with no traffic to get in the way.
A couple of MCSes took first and second in their class. I don't know what my position was in my class, but it wasn't near the top.
I did get a bunch of nice compliments on my driving and the car's handling, and how quick it was for being a low powered car on a track with long straights.
My times were in the 2:17 range, while the MCSes there were running 2:08's, I believe. The fastest time of the day was a blazing fast 1:45 by a formula car of some sort (like a baby F1 / Indy car... perhaps it was a formula atlantic - something Mazda powered anyway)
I'll write up a better review of the event soon, with some video...

I looked around and found http://www.lecircuit.com/en/track.htm , looks like a beautiful track, even with all those concrete barriers. I can see where those straights would be a little frustrating in a Cooper, but I'm sure you did a good job with it. Not really a momentum track, huh? Namerow looks like a bear.
Another autocross down. Mid-pack finish overall. I finally lost to the stripped out Hyundai Accent on coilovers and 225 width Hoosiers
I had been waiting for that to happen for the last 2 years, and it finally did. Thaty little Hyundai is starting to get dialed in. Oh yeah, thanks to the coilovers and race tires, the Hyundai is two classes above me in our class structure.
I did manage to beat out a Honda S2000, but it was being driven by someone other than the owner.
The course layout was a little tricky... remember that we use a really tiny parking lot... the straights / slaloms / offsets were fast enough that I needed second gear, but the 180° turns between them were slow enough that I needed first gear. So, I bit the bullet and did the shifting, even though I'm not a big fan of the 2->1 downshift while moving.
And it looks like I'll need a new clutch for next summer. :( The current one, with 98,000 miles on it, is starting to not hold when I come out of a turn with full throttle in first gear.

I managed 2nd in my class on a course favoring the M3's... and, I was 14th fastest overall of 49 cars, beating a BUNCH of much faster cars.

And your outcome is very very impressive...keep up the great work
The list in the first post has been updated. If you don't see yourself listed and you posted already let me know.
Anyone else have progress reports on their driver's school, track, autocross experience?

My lastest track vids are in this thread:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=77580
I'm heading back to SLMP (the go-kart track we time trial at) this weekend, as is Paul M in his MCS, so there will be more video soon.
Autocrossing might be done for the season because the only lot we had access to was at a college, and with the kids there we cannot tie up a lot for the day. :(

We have our next Southern California BMWCCA autocross coming up on Saturday in San Diego. I'm going to be running new wheels/tires.
Wheels: 15x7 Rota Slipstreams
Tires: 205/50 R15 V710s

It'll be my first time on race tires so i'm looking forward to experiencing some better grip.
Big hopes for justacooper. OctaneGuy and Bruiser will also be there representing Team Justacooper.
Jerry (goaljnky) will be at the event too, but running in his JCW MCS.
