Thanks! I think you'll start seeing more of these in the not so distant future!

It does cut visibility down a bit--for some stop lights. I'm thinking of seeing if I can do it with tinted vinyl instead of opaque, but I just don't have the time to research this. But in most cases it's better, because it provides additional sun shade protection!

Unless you were using my car as the counterpoint to Rally's lowered car.

I'm on my 2nd "Justacooper" I've never had any trouble keeping up especially in the twisties. In fact I'm usually the leader of the pack on our Club runs. I just had an Rspeed 22 mm sway bar installed. I've just about wore the tread off my high performance Yoko's. Sunnie is one of the best known Coopers in town. Everyone knows her

nah if you go lower....all you have to deal with is your car looking better and handling better. H-sports make the Cooper look like a 4x4 in my opinion.

I will be going even lower SOON once my coilovers get shipped from home to my beach house here Then i'm hoping to go SUPER LOW

Although I drive an S I'd like to see what a Coop could do if it had my tire set up on it (before I chunked one of them this past weekend).

On a tight track like Hollywood Park or Ca Speedway it would be close. San Diego I believe is a little too fast to compare the two cars.

When Dave gets a real set of wheels and tires for autocross, us S guys better be looking in our mirrors (or out the front windshield).

Rory,

Thanks for the encouraging words.

Just let me wear these tires down and then we'll do that comparison.

Picked up my Justacooper this weekend. This is the neatest car around. A long way from being "Justa" anything. Put my name on the member's list. Thanks

I feel like I've let the team down...

Our last autocross did not show that great a performance from me. I still managed to be first in my class, but only 22nd of out 32 overall. I'd been hovering in the top quarter of the overall field the rest of the summer.

I did cone on my fastest run, if that was clean I would have been 18th, still not that great.

I was only .05 seconds ahead of a (stripped / tuned / autocross only) Hyundai Accent.

Is there a smiley with it's head bowed in shame?

Here's video of my coned run:

Some other vids here:

The stalker (lotus 7 inspired thing with a Chevy V6 in it) had FTD. Check out some of the fun run videos for extra drift excitement.

My internet connection hasn't been too stable today, so I'll have to wait until later to watch your videos.

My latest results are from over a week ago. I took 2nd in the MINI class at the L.A. BMWCCA autocross.

The L.A. BMWCCA still hasn't posted the official results yet, so all I know is the top three, which we heard at the trophy presentation.

1st: 52 and change - Aaron from h-sport in his STX MCS
2nd: 55.19 - me in my justacooper
3rd: 56.21 - mod'd MCS

The rest of the field was composed of 6 or 7 other MINIs, mostly MCS's including two JCW's, but OctaneGuy was in the thick of it too representing Team Justacooper. I really wish the official results were up for everyone so we'd know how the rest of the standings shook out.

Cool video. That course is small compared to what we are running--or maybe it's just the camera angle. LOL. I've only done AutoX twice, so I have no idea what the typical course is like.

DAVE
Of my 3 timed runs, I was 60.xxx, 64.xx and a cone, and 61 I think. I only got 59 once in my practice run. My initial runs were all in the 64 to 65 range, so I was glad to bring it down 5 seconds for the time laps.

Yesterday I washed my aftermarket HAI filter and today noticed considerable power that I haven't felt in awhile. LOL. That combined with lighter wheels, and stickier tires, I should be doing even better soon.

At our last autocross I managed to capture 1st in class for the first time. Now before people get to excited please understand that another MC owner in fact owns HS First Place for the season. He was kind enough to work as the pre-runner for this event. That gave the rest of us a shot at a first in class. A very fast Honda was in second and a quick was third. I think the Honda driver would have won if he had better tires. Truth be told he was the better driver. The PAX time placed me at 106th of 257 players. Any of the top four could have won our class if I had not gotten lucky.
I like lucky.

1st 2006 BRG/Silver MC.........72.199+2..70.606 70.540+1...69.816 ....(69.816)
2nd 1991 Honda Civic SI Red..73.963.....70.601...70.195...71.118......(70.196) -0.379
3rd 2006 Subaru Impreza Red..72.974....70.767..71.277....71.090......(70.767) -0.572
4th 1992 MX-3 ....................74.957....73.037...71.938 71.060+1.....(71.938) -1.171

Yup, our courses are really short here in Vermont. We haven't been able to get access to a bigger lot, so we have to make due with what we have.

Wow. That isn't very much room. I'll try to get some better photos of our San Diego venue next time.

Results from our July 16th autocross have finally posted

1. Aaran 52.673 MCS
2. David 55.166 Team Justacooper
3. Charlie 56.228 MCS
4. Jimmy 57.049 MCS JCW
5. Karen 59.109 MCS
6. Joseph 60.093 MCS
7. Richard 60.931 Team Justacooper
8. Glen 61.715 MCS

It looks like the other JCW went home without doing the timed runs. In the practices though, it was in the 60-61 range.

My new wheels arrived today, but Edgeracing goofed and put the wrong zip code, so they are on a UPS truck somewhere in LA, causing them to be delayed until Monday. How frustrating is that? I called UPS to see if I could pick them up and promise after promise of calling me back, and even attempted to offer me to meet the truck somewhere--all lies. Now I gotta wait until Monday.

OctaneGuy's Team Justacooper with new shoes!

In case you couldn't recognize them, the rubber used to belong to Dave.

These are 15" Flik Fuels in glossy black with the polished lip from Edgeracing.
I dropped 7 pounds per wheel with my current wheel/tire combo over the OEM 5 Stars.

lowered on 205/50's with mudflaps... you're MINI's getting pretty close to the ground there.

Looks good.

Haha it does feel lower sitting in the drivers seat and I did scrape on my driveway---haven't done that yet going backwards. LOL. But I love them. I'm noticing quicker response, especially when I'm WOT in 2nd gear. Can't wait for AutoX day. Hope I still have enough good rubber for it. LOL.
