2013 JCW's announced, now with automatic trannies

From Motoringfile: http://www.motoringfile.com/2012/05/...is/#more-24388

Full valvetronic engines, no power bump for non CM JCW's (maybe not even for the CM), increased fuel efficiency, automatic transmissions across the range, JCW logo on steering wheel and engine cover, couple more JCW only options like pepper white trim. May have brake regeneration and auto start/stop for the US, but unclear as the press release doesn't seem US specific.

Even without the power bump, I don't think anyone can complain. Increase fuel economy with the same power is great for the time being.

Especially since they are releasing the GP this year...it would make no sense for MINI to create a regulard JCW that has more HP than the GP.

Well, you're really only missing out on 2 mpg. I also would be greatly annoyed by auto start stop.

It's been said before, but you can play the waiting game forever. I have no regrets, that's for sure... well OK, maybe I would like the JCW logo on the steering wheel .

I'm fine with having a 2012 JCW Coupe and not waiting. I do wish MINI would mark the JCW engines with some kind of JCW badge, though.

Will it be the same auto tranny that's on the cooper s? If so its too slow and would rather have the 6 speed Manuel. Well 2 mpg is better than nothing. I'm I'm the looks for a jcw so I might what to see how it drives with the auto tranny.

I was told by my dealer a few days ago that they had gotten notice, a few days before, that the JCW availability date had been moved from July to the end of the year. :-(

so even if you order a JCW right now, would it still be a 2012 model or 2013 because I heard somewhere on NAM that they stopped production on 2012 models in anticipation for re-calibrating the machines for the 2013 spec models. (I could be wrong though)

I was told all allocations of 2012 jcw's were filled about a week ago, so all new orders may be the 2013s. I got mine in at the very end, just finished the build and awaiting transport.

No, the review said that the shift action and programming was much more in keeping with what you would expect for a JCW (paraphrasing). I would believe that it is also uprated internally to handle the extra power as was the 6sp manual.

Ok, now what are the actual differences between the MiniS auto tranny and the JCW auto? Still trying to find out what the real differences are!
