spent a few hours getting rid of all the chrome on my 2013 jcw. i also did the brake air ducts in gloss red. here are the results...love it! total cost = $35 from lowe's
gp rear wing (side blades to be painted matching chili pepper red and wing gloss black) and gp rear diffuser are coming soon. i'll be putting the factory carbon fiber wing up for sale soon.
the beltline? it's matte black plastic from the factory. i didn't do anything for that and only did all the chrome trims on the car.
I didn't realize that the beltline came in any other color than chrome. How did you get a matte black one from the factory? Good job on everything else by the way!

oh by belt line you're referring to the window trim all around the car. yes, i plasti dip all of them. simply masked around and sprayed away. it's that simple.
No the beltline you're showing has a carbon fiber look. That has to be tape. I don't think they made beltlines that are blacked out. Doesn't look like it came from the factory. (but what do I know? maybe it is factory) Just curious what tape product you used? Too hard to cut out a strip of vinyl for a beltline.
LOL that's the other poster who did the vinyl wrap. He'll be able to answer when he sees this.
hahaha how do you know I got ripped Over? have you tried the special Mini Cooper beltline tape from OutMotoring? maybe their tape was designed just for the Mini. just got it today in the mail and i'll put it on sometime in . . . late 2016 (hahaha it's a when I get around to it DIY)
I bought it also but it stretches too easy. Once it's stretches..trash time. It feels cheap, just imo.
oh wow. Just saw that was MiniMofo's JCW. hahaha He was bragging about painting his chrome trim for 35 bucks from Lowe's. haha and he owns a Lamborghini. Maybe that's how he can afford one.
I can't afford a Lamborghini but I can afford the black trim from ECS. When it comes to my JCW I'm a big spender. Chevron gas. Primo wax. Mobil synthetic motor oil. hahaha

Yeah...that would be me. I purchased that tape from O'reilly's of all places. It comes in a roll for about 10 bucks. I liked the way it looked but it took me three trips to find an Oreilly's that had any left in stock.
I ended up doing the tops, the front and the back.
That looks cool. So I guess the tape is wide enough to cover. Sounds like special beltline tape. I just got the matte black tape from outmotoring.com and haven't tried it yet. 10 bucks. Doesn't work then I'll try O'Reilly.
It is almost the exact right size. Just a little too big which works fine with a little tuck. Better than being too small.
If you find the tape at Oreilly's, buy two rolls and put it away until you want to change up a little. I am telling you, its hard to find. lol
