jcw de-chromed and plasti dip'ed

spent a few hours getting rid of all the chrome on my 2013 jcw. i also did the brake air ducts in gloss red. here are the results...love it! total cost = $35 from lowe's

album is here for all the process pix - https://share.shutterfly.com/action/...ZuWjNw2bOGLC7g

gp rear wing (side blades to be painted matching chili pepper red and wing gloss black) and gp rear diffuser are coming soon. i'll be putting the factory carbon fiber wing up for sale soon.

Very nice. Looks great. Definitely like the blacked out side markers.

Very cool.

I went this route with "blacking" out mine. I had the black tape on the beltline and it looked fine, but I kind of like this stuff.

That's interesting. I thought of that also. Plasti dip is easy to play with...make a mistake, peel it off. Simple as that.

Looks like the 3M 1080 series CF wrap.

Well done on both DIY's.

Thanks
it's holding up very well, better than i thought. i got the popular performix plasti dip in matte black at lowe's http://www.lowes.com/pd_42849-61158-...ductId=3543514

the beltline? it's matte black plastic from the factory. i didn't do anything for that and only did all the chrome trims on the car.

I didn't realize that the beltline came in any other color than chrome. How did you get a matte black one from the factory? Good job on everything else by the way!

oh by belt line you're referring to the window trim all around the car. yes, i plasti dip all of them. simply masked around and sprayed away. it's that simple.

LOL that's the other poster who did the vinyl wrap. He'll be able to answer when he sees this.

You got ripped.. 3M Super 88 works way better and fits just right. Had mine on for a year and still looks brand new. Under 4 bucks at Lowe's.

I bought it also but it stretches too easy. Once it's stretches..trash time. It feels cheap, just imo.

I can't afford a Lamborghini but I can afford the black trim from ECS. When it comes to my JCW I'm a big spender. Chevron gas. Primo wax. Mobil synthetic motor oil. hahaha

Yeah...that would be me. I purchased that tape from O'reilly's of all places. It comes in a roll for about 10 bucks. I liked the way it looked but it took me three trips to find an Oreilly's that had any left in stock.
I ended up doing the tops, the front and the back.

It is almost the exact right size. Just a little too big which works fine with a little tuck. Better than being too small.

If you find the tape at Oreilly's, buy two rolls and put it away until you want to change up a little. I am telling you, its hard to find. lol
