Production numbers for Factory JCW

Curious to know number/percentage of MINIs produced with factory JCW last year or so. Breakout by hardtop/cabrio/cm would be appreciated. Less than 5% is my guess. Thanks. Nick

Like all things BMW, you probably won't get that info. You probably can get the total # of hardtops, verts, and Clubbbys, but not colors, or trims, or JCW versions.

If I remember right, I think there have been about 400-500 imported to the US per year since they started building them in 2009. There are probably less than 1500 in the country right now including hardtops, cabrios, and clubmans.

There is a thread here on NAM that discusses this topic already. The concensus of that thread is somewhere between 400 and 500 JCWs imported to the US each year just like drewstermalloy states.

If I had to venture a guess I would say about 200 each of the hardtop and Clubman and 100 for the Cabrio per year.

Thanks for the replies. So the number is way less than my original thought of 5%. I like that. I also can't imagine many 68 yr olds with a JCW! If there are, I'll bet fewer have run over 73,000 miles over the last 35 yrs--and still running 45-50 miles per week. I am very greatful. Nick

There are at least 3 to 4 guys that I know of on here that are in their 60's that have JCW's.

Yes. The _48 refers to my birth year. I don't run, but I do cycle 2 to 4 times per week...

For 2009, the information from a UK trade organization said 498 to the US, I think 67 to Canada and 33 to Mexico. For us in the US, that was 498 out of 45,xxx total imported for all MINIs, so roughly 1%. As far as I know, no one has checked into 2010 numbers.

And here's that thread -- at least with respect to the 2009 model year...

Folks were guesstimating (either educated or otherwise) that about 1% of the total production in 2009 was a factory JCW...

I have only seen one other JCW in Houston. It was a 2009 Clubman for sale at the local bmw/mini/porsche dealer. I did see a 2010 JCW Hardtop the last time I was working up in Stamford, CT. Those are the only two I have seen in person other than my own 2009 JCW Clubman. They are rare cars for sure.

I had a 2006 Volvo S60R prior to the JCW and they are also quite rare but I have seen more of them in Houston than I have ever seen a MINI JCW.

When you consider we're talking on the order of 1 out of 100, you won't see than many. In the 13 months that I had my car before I left the country, I saw maybe 6 total. The other thing is whether or not they were fairly evenly distributed around the country. Don't have a clue about that one...

DoubleNick: Post pics once you take delivery.
Sounds like an interesting color combination.

Not long after purchasing mine, I'd thought I came across another JCW Clubman in Pittsburgh. But it was nighttime and I didn't get a real good look at it, so it could have been a Clubman S dressed up with some JCW livery and/or with a JCW Tune (pretty sure I spotted a "JCW" badge on it). I had the impression the color was Hot Chocolate, but I've not seen it (or another JCW of any body style) since...

Some months ago, I came across the twin to mine for sale on AutoTrader in Iowa; the VIN was like 1 or 2 off from mine...
