F56 Cooper S Transmission mount replacement

Hi all,
Just replaced upper engine mount, which was leaking oil badly and after removal I could see that it was basically torn apart from torque. Replaced it, but now when going at bumps or potholes there is a clunking from the engine bay. I heavily suspect that the tranny mount is also gone. How hard of a work Im looking forward to? Could weak F56 engine/tranny mounts be a general issue? I'm thinking about adding some windshield glue to the new mount to make it last longer ... the car is 2016/11 with 48k km. Mapped to 280hp 400nm (automatic)

Did you end up replacing the tranny mount? I'm in a similar boat; had the lower dog bone and upper right mount replaced. Was great for about a month and now getting a vibration under load and knocking on various bumps again.
I'm lowered on coilovers and have slightly over 200hp thanks to the NM Engineering add-on.
Throwing it on the lift when I get home tonight to check things out. Curious on what you found out with yours.

Thanks!

Do you guys have the powerflex inserts in the lower engine mount? That might help you get by. Or it might make it worse, I have no idea, haha. Just an idea to try that's cheap and easy.

Also thinking about doing the window sealer trick in my mounts. I see no reason why a replaced mount won't fail again in a few thousand miles.

I threw mine up on the Quickjack last night, pulled the lower cover; everything feels tight & new dogbone mount is still new. Pulled airbox so I could check the tranny mount; looks good. Upper right mount (brand new) still looks...well, brand new. shook the exhaust, no contact with chassis. Checked nuts on sway bar end links, tight. Did the standard 12/6 test for ball joint play... also tight. Checked all the bolts on the coilovers... again, tight and no leaks. A-arm bushings look good, no tears. I'm at a loss. Prob going to swing by Mini and pay a diagnostic fee and go from there.

It's not super bad, but like in the movie Rush, when Niki was driving the Alfa and could "feel it". That's where I'm at. Well, actually you can hear it too, but something just doesn't feel right. Not as bad with a passenger in the car, which tells me it's suspension related. Still noticeable, but not as bad.

You may want to refer to post #21 by J_L where he added the 3M window bond to it. My mount is torn pretty bad, so I had to fill the energizer cavity with the rubber weld and also fill the spaces all around. The mount is much improved and after putting it back I feel much more secure with it. Replacing it with a new one will just lead to the same failure again in next two years.

My new mount and powerflex bushings will be here tomorrow.

In post #79 the torque for the 3 bolts in to the cylinder head are 40nm and is the 90 degree additional to the 40nm?

Thanks

Yep, torque the bolt to 40nm, then turn another 90 degrees and stop.

I'm about to install all three mounts with Powerflex bushings, but I'm concerned how the insert for the trans mount seems to easily start to slip out with just me wiggling the mount arm by hand.

Powerflex insert after wiggling the mount arm a bit

The yellow inserts for the Upper were satisfyingly not super easy to insert, though manageable. The ones for the Lower slid in pretty easily, but snug enough..plus peace of mind that they'll essentially be clamped down once the mount is installed with them in.
For this Transmission Mount, I get little confidence that the insert wouldn't quickly make its way out due to vibrations from the car. Or does the slot that the tranny mount gets bolted into just so happen to be just big enough to keep the insert pressed in? Did I perhaps get a molding of it that's just a bit too small? The barrel of the thin side is way too narrow and short to press fit Thoughts?
