1.5T muffler delete. Long-term thoughts? Droning?

Hello NAM. I have read many threads and videos of those with a non S Cooper deleting the muffler for more exhaust sound. Some have said it’s not too loud. My worry is droning on the highway. I can’t stand droning. Has anyone who has deleted their muffler and lived with it for a while felt that it was a problem in day to day use? I’d love a little more noise for $100 but don’t want to avoid the mini for long trips because of my desire for more noise.

Thanks for any opinions.

I cant imagine it would drone if you keep the stock cats and resonators in.

Take those out and it will be way too loud. I had a buddy that did that and it was horrible to drive with him

Fantastic! So no regrets? I’m ready to chop that sucker off. This thing is whisper quiet I can hardly tell I’m hitting 6000rpm except by watching the revs. That’s kinda weird for me.

None. Can't drive a car that I cannot hear.

Cheers,

I read through the thread you linked, and perhaps I missed it, but what exactly did you remove? I've seen YouTube videos of resonators being removed, mufflers, both, etc. Also, if you had to compare what you did to a typical aftermarket exhaust (not some cat-less or non-resonated track variety, but a "normal" aftermarket exhaust), would you say the modification you made to the original exhaust is louder, quieter, or about the same? The one thing I'm worried about is disturbing my neighbors each morning when I leave at 6 AM for work. I would also prefer to not wake up the entire house as I start the car in the garage each morning. BUT, I need more music from the B36!!

The missing part is the rear muffler - indicated as [9] in THIS diagram.

I did the muffler delete first on my 1.5L T. Later on installed miltek catless downpipe, it was so obnoxiously loud I got an aftermarket muffler (magnaflow 14”)
