Did a res delete... Should i do a Muffler Delete?

Like the title states. I did the res and its still quiet... Would a Muffler delete be too much? I don't want it annoying...

I think a muffler delete would be super loud. Did you remove your 2nd cat as well? If not, try that.

What year is your MINI? I have an Akrapovic DP with 100cell cat and a 2nd cat delete. I took out the resonator and immediately put it back in because my car was way too loud in this setup.

a car with NO muffler annoying?!
Do you need to ask?! If you do, just ask the first cop you drive by. He will give you a little piece of paper to show you how annoying it is!
Performance exhausts are sold for a reason...
More GOOD sound...at a good volume...no annoyance.
Sorry, but ask a question like this, basically, are straight pipes too loud...and you are bound to get some answers that are interesting!!
On second thought, JUST DO IT!!
POST IT HERE AND ON U_TUBE for future folks!!

Isn't a turbo car without a muffler a lot different than a naturally aspirated car without a muffler? Wouldn't the turbo act as a muffler a little and be a little quieter? Still too loud I am sure but not completely obnoxious like the other.

Even straight piped NA models sound really good which is surprising.

I did a resonator and 2nd cat delete. I enjoy it as it definitely added some rumble to the tone and increased the volume a bit.

If I remember, I'll get a vid or you can youtube it.

Just make sure you get a friend to drive by you so you can see how loud it is from the outside of the car.

I thought when I did my resonator delete at first that it was very quiet...turns out that it was only from the inside of the car that it seemed so quiet, its actually quite loud from the outside.

Yeah I was about to remove the 2nd cat but we have emission tests every 2 years. That might cause it to fail.

Just to clarify things, which is the resonator and which is the muffler?

I've always heard that the muffler is the silencer closest to the engine and the resonator is the one at the end of the exhaust pipe.

The resonator is the cylindrical piece before (from the front of the car) the muffler (closest to the boot). The muffer on the S is wider and rectangular in shape IIRC.

What he said! Also, give it a chance to break in. Once everything is set, you'll notice the volume/tone is drastically different than it sounded immediately after the removal.

I had to read this a few times. Hahaha I completely agree though-That's why I did the res/cat delete. It was the cheapest route and most of the HP/performance is in the engine bay, DP, good suspension and tires.

Ill just leave the Res delete for now, ill get a cutback system installed soon. I need to figure out the Suspension set up. I want Eibach Pro Kit or NM Springs. Hopefully won't vibrate like my coils did.

So whats the best option for the exhaust? I want to add some noise on my 2008 S but not sure if I should remove just the resonator, just the 2nd cat, just the muffler or 2 of the 3. I do need to pass emissions, but we dont have roller tests so if no CEL then Im good

Hmmm... I'm no expert, but I posted a link to my 09 MCS with the resonator and 2nd cat removed. It's throatier, but not it's not much deeper tone-wise. I like it, however, I'd like for it to have a deeper warmer tone if able.

I don't have to pass emissions so I just said to hell with it.

Youtube is your friend for exhaust tones! Good luck man!

This guy.... Let me tell u from da real exp.. Da best exhaust with no CEL would be NM down pipe back exhaust this thing rule... Done talking... I dont recomand any cat back either do a all the with turbo back or if the money and cel bothers u do the downpipe back for now and u can change the dp(down pipe) later on but for official nm not cat back the dp back is way to go
