A few questions from a new owner

Hey all! I recently took ownership of a base 2015 Cooper with the Sport Package and LED Headlights as the only options. It is a pure, amazing little beast of a car that I absolutely adore. However, I have been looking through this forum and have a few questions about mods that I would like to perform on my beloved "Atom". This car is my first car, and still under warranty so the mods won't be earth-shattering. I'm also a bit of a newbie to doing this kind of stuff to my own car, I'm very much in the dark on doing this stuff myself

First, I have the B38 3-cylinder engine. It sounds amazing and has decent pull, but I have been looking into the Dinan Sport and Elite mods and have been left at a crossroad. The Elite is about 3 times more expensive than the Sport tune for only a few more horsepower. However, I read that the Sport has some vehicle throwing up CEL's while the Elite did not have such issues. To any members that have the tune, is the Elite tune worth the much higher price?

Second, I have the base 4-speaker audio system, and it's actually pretty decent for being a base system. I'm spoiled by my family's cars with audio systems by Bose and Harman/Kardon and I was wondering what I could do to spice up my system without breaking the bank too much.

Thank you all so much for being members of this forum, this forum is what made me buy my MINI

Upgrading the base audio system has been done, but it's pretty expensive I think. That was for the Gen 2 Minis I haven't seen it for the F series Minis.

Really? I thought it would be on par with other vehicles when it comes to upgrading speakers and adding an amp and all of that technical jazz.

For speakers upgrade, take a look at Bavsound’s solutions.

I have done it last year and still very impressed with the upgrade, even with stock amplifier.

I've taken a look at Bavsound and will most likely go with them for my upgrade. How difficult was the install? I've never worked on a car, let alone taking off a few door panels and installing new speakers. I'm worried that I'll screw it up and do something catastrophic lol.

Everything snaps together in these cars. If you break anything just buy some new clips. I only did the floor speaker install on mine and had someone else do the other speakers due to old bad back issues. I watched the entire install and mine is an HK system which is more work. It's pretty easy, install YouTube videos for it.

I have Dinan Elite and Sports units. Hard to say if it is worth the price difference. Some have had issues with Elite units and others with sports module. I had no issues beyond the car not liking Race Mode on one 100 degree day on a few hours drive on highways. No codes, just a stumble and I moved it down to sport+ mode with no further stumble.

That makes me feel better. I did notice how easy it was to pop the panels off in the video that Bavsound has on YouTube, but I was still worried that I would mess it all up. Also, since you have had both the Sport and Elite mods, would you say that the Elite is worth the premium over the Sport module? The excessive price difference kind of deters me from the Elite module.

Only worth it if warranty is important and you really push the car hard. Otherwise I don't think so. I still have my Sport sitting on my desk but I haven't put it up for sale because if someone buys it and has any issues I don't want to get in a hassle with them.

If you have 2015, warranty is near done I assume.

I have an extended warranty on my MINI right now, until 2020. But the module can be taken off before any repairs so the dealer won't be suspicious. I'd be happy to take the module off of your hands if you wanted as well. I've been doing some research and many owners are extremely happy with the mods.
