Yikes, sorry to hear about you episode.
Guess you can count yourself lucky Bambi didn't join you in the front seat. At least it didn't take out the headlight (those are extremely expensive to replace.
Not something you plan for, but at least the damage can be repaired. Hope you have a low deductible. Should also be a no fault claim so insurance should not go up. (played this before when I hit a piece of truck tire in the road). I was in the right lane hemmed in by another car in the left lane, so I could not avoid the tire chunk....if it was an animal running across, it would not go against me, if it were a dead animal in the road I hit, it would, of course it was a tire chunk so it would have been my fault). I had it fixed myself w/o involving insurance

Sorry for your bad luck, but consider yourself lucky. This is what happened to my daughters car yesterday in a T-storm.
I had my '15 MCS for two weeks when a guy backed his Tahoe into my front end. Replaced hood, bumper, grills to the tune of $3300. Yours shouldn't be any more than that. Much better than a deer in the lap.

Wow, scary pic You're not kidding when you say, "consider yourself lucky". Hopefully, everyone was ok.... Looks like a terrible storm.

Yep. No one hurt. She had just recently got the car out of the shop from hitting a deer. Her second on this car. It was a pristine little '02 Chevy Tracker that she loved. Drove it 120 miles a day back and forth to work. She had just bought a new set of tires for it about three hours before the tree ate it.
Have you had an adjuster look at your car yet? Don't forget to make a diminished value claim after it's repaired.

What though, is a diminished value claim?
The body shop, which happens to be a BMW dealer indicated that they are worried with it being a 17 and getting parts timely??

Sorry about the Clubman, glad everyone is ok.
Yep parts will be tough right now. According to my dealer when mine was in everything is coming from Germany on this model right now. Adds about a week to the repairs to get parts. Just have them contact regional rep to escalate. Good luck!
As I understand it dininished value just means that this will show on a carfax as an accident therefore it will no longer be an accident free vehicle lowering the future resale price of the vehicle. So you really want more back to cover that depreciation you'll lose in the future.
