In my '13 the battery is rechargeable when inserted in the car. However, when not used for a long time it can go flat. I change back and forth between my two fobs every oil change.
Anyone have to change the battery in their Key Fob ?
If so how long did the original battery last ?
What type battery is needed ?
Thanks
I had comfort access on my Countryman so it used a replaceable battery, similar to the 3rd gen MINIs. It lasted about 1.5-2 years before I replaced it.
The new fobs are the same - you'll probably get a couple years out of them. The car will let you know when it detects the battery getting low and they are easy to replace. The cover on the back pops off and you replace it with a standard button cell battery (a CR2030 or something)
Yea, they should last a while my r56 one lasted a long time the CA ( comfort access ) battery did need changed once. Just switch the keys every so often.
??? Photo shows a CR2025 battery...narrative states a CR2032. Is there a difference between the two?
