How long before battery change in Key Fob ?

Anyone have to change the battery in their Key Fob ?
If so how long did the original battery last ?
What type battery is needed ?

Thanks

In my '13 the battery is rechargeable when inserted in the car. However, when not used for a long time it can go flat. I change back and forth between my two fobs every oil change.

With the F56 the battery is not rechargeable.

I had comfort access on my Countryman so it used a replaceable battery, similar to the 3rd gen MINIs. It lasted about 1.5-2 years before I replaced it.

The new fobs are the same - you'll probably get a couple years out of them. The car will let you know when it detects the battery getting low and they are easy to replace. The cover on the back pops off and you replace it with a standard button cell battery (a CR2030 or something)

Amperage difference and thickness. In some applications you can use either, not sure about your key fob however.
