F55/F56 turbo
I remember test drivng a brand new 1988 MX-6 Turbo with a huge turbo lag. I step on the gas pedal to minimum 3-4000 rpm to spool up the turbo and then the boost kicked in (and then a huge torque steer would follow - hold onto the steering wheel tight!). No such thing on this B48 twin-scroll turbo setup - it's (almost) instant, smooth and very sweet!
Yeah that's why I ask, because it has absolutely no lag whatsoever. The thing just takes off. Happy to say this is my first turbo car ever and man am I loving it! always good explanations on here. thanks fellas.
It gives you an additional 2-3psi. But with the power to weight ratio, that much gain is very noticeable.

Kinda crazy they are only running 8psi stock in these turbos. Shows how downtuned the motors really are. I remember my chipped mkv gti was hitting peak boost levels around 22psi...
I'll be curious to see some numbers when bms makes a more aggressive tune for these cars or a stage 2. I would think with an intake, decatted or high flow cat exhaust, and the right tune this thing should be in the mid to upper 200hp range.

Yes, 2014 MCS B48 is a detuned 2.0 turbo motor in today's standard. It even makes less peak hp than 1.6 turbos like Fiesta or Veloster which makes around (claimed) 200 hp. Even so, all knowing that, I would still buy 2014 MCS all over again. Think about it, how often do you hit the peak hp of your car in your everyday driving?
Look at the B48's 0-60 mph time which is not too shabby at all. It's got a pretty thick low end torque that pulls quite nicely barely from the idle rpm to all the way to the redline. I really want to see the dyno graph showing hp/tq vs rpm of this motor.

F56 I believe its quick, like no lag, but the boost numbers are low, I also believe so the engine as to last longer and less problematic. Also might be for fuel efficiency ? That means there is room for more boost in one way you look at it.
The revised Aisin Auto trans and the current set up make shifting pretty smooth even under hard engine loads.
