F55/F56 Week 27 build -- this is your status thread!
I called MINIUSA today and they said my MC manual had been released to Waggoners trucking yesterday, Oct. 14, and the expected arrival date is Oct.17. The dealer is 1000 miles away so that sounds optimistic, though possible. The dealer has previously told me transport takes up to a week under normal conditions. And, of course, being released to a trucking company is not the same as loading and leaving. So another week has almost passed without delivery, although thankfully there's movement. My order was placed June 26.
On another note, I shopped online the other local dealer and they've got quite a nice BRG 2014 MC with stripes on the lot. It has more options than I wanted and is about $3K more. Hmmm...

Well, I've put on about 350 miles so far. It's a dandy! Tomorrow I'll go to the graphics shop and spend a good part of the day there. Hope to be able to post photos tomorrow before I turn around and run back out to a political event, but I promise to post Saturday if not!
I'll be 64 in December, a time when a lot of people are thinking of retiring. This is most definitely NOT my father's Buick, in looks or performance! Thank God...

Picked up car. I had told them not to buffer it -- didn't want tons of swirls. But paint had quite a few issues -- none too happy as I planned to do a CQuartz UK paint protection this weekend. When I made some "yuck" comments, they had the detail guy come out who assured me they could take care of it without creating all the dealer swirls. Frustrated, I said ok.
I'll need to give it a good look tomorrow, but I think it's better -- needed better light.
Went for the $250 loyalty discount, though I plan to switch to my credit union after the first payment. Mini Financial assured me no prepayment, no minimum time, no minimum interest.
Interestingly enough, window sticker was printed on Tuesday (10/14) and has a $250 higher MSRP, but dealer honored agreed upon price, i.e. no $250 increase. You obviously never steal a car, but between original bargained discount, extra discount agreed to by dealer when switching from 2014 order to 2015 because they had offered to make it a 2015 for no additional cost and then there was additional cost due to newly required options on the 2015 (that were later dropped), to another discount from the dealer when the alarm couldn't be removed when it was dropped as required but my car was one of the 87 2015 cars that went into production early and thus options locked. Then the EPA delay negotiated compensation. Then the $500 drivers ed discount that was newly added. And finally the $250 loyalty discount. Bottom line, an unbelievable discount from MSRP that leaves me pinching myself and asking if this really happened.
But it did!
The EPA ordeal is over -- and it's going to take me weeks to figure some of this stuff out. It's not that I don't understand technology -- it's more so that finding your way around in the Mini user interface is just terrible from a human factors point of view -- it's a hot mess.
The car itself, the way it drives, the way the inside looks, I'm thrilled. I do feel like while it has a new car smell, it's not as intense as I expected, and that's probably due to the delay. Also, have somewhat of a burned oil smell (outside, not inside), but I'll see if that dissipates in a day or two. Otherwise, I might pop in and ask them if they think something might be amiss.
I'll post a lot more this weekend -- lots more to go over.
Pictures will probably be delayed until stuff that's being done next week is done

Well today around 5:00pm I went to the dealer to start the paperwork and submit my credit app. Shortly after leaving, my sales rep called and said just as she checked the system before leaving my car is officially en route on the truck with an estimated delivery date of 10/19. The owners lounge showed today which was incorrect but I'm hoping it comes tomorrow or Saturday. Doesn't hurt to wish for a quick arrival right? Lol. Coming from California to New Mexico it has quite a drive so it's looking as if Sunday is accurate. Thoughts???
I should have suggested that, too. My belt and suspenders approach is Slime and a compressor, plus a spare. I even have one of those puncture rubber tire repair kits. My car's been on many cross-country trips, though, so I felt it was a good idea to have all of this. In 100,000 miles and 7 1/2 years, I've never had to use them. (Knocking on wood as I type this.)
If your wife's car will be primarily in the Houston area, I'd go with Roadside Assistance, AAA, or something of that sort. If you're on a tollway, there are patrols who will come to your aid. My last flat was on the Hardy, some 10 years ago, and it was in an area that didn't have a wide enough shoulder to safely change it. The patrol truck came along while I was waiting for Roadside Assistance--maybe 10 minutes.

Yep, and a pump and maybe a tire repair kit. That's what I put under the passenger seat. Funny, I got 2 nails in the runflats in 28k miles, and nothing in the nonrun flats in 43k miles. Like I've said my new runflats are pretty sweet wrt the ride. Just keep a couple lbs less pressure in 'em and no problem with the ride.

Curious why you pick the UK version of CQuartz over the 'straight' version? And have you used it before? What are your impressions? I've used Opti-Coat 2.0 but they no longer sell it
and I'm looking to find a new coating. The $250 plus up was known and Mini already agreed for those who had ordered but not taken possession that they would honor the lower price. It was not even a discussion with our dealership.
The user interface is a little confusing at first but you get used to it and I'm finding my way around easier now. I hope to figure out the Profile feature with the keys so I can set up one for my Wife and one for me when I steal.. uh borrow.. her car.
Our car had a new car smell still but it is going away. Must have been baked out. There is a thick film on the inside of the glass in some places, especially the rear window. I can't get it off. Trying to clean up the glass before getting it tinted.
We had that burning oil smell but it went away after the first day. Probably just some oil on parts from production that burned off. Only 6 miles on the car when we picked it up.
So... 1100+ posts in the 2014 week 27 build thread. Is that a record for a single week build? It's been quite an experience this last few months, and I'm happy to see that chapter finally wrapping up.
Anyone from week 27 still waiting? If so, hopefully they get these ALL done within the next week.
aafflyer - Like Rocket said, I wouldn't worry about the smell. Lots of interesting odors from mine for 1-2 days, but since then it's be perfect.

I did my first fill up last night!
just over 30mpg for 258 miles including 4 days of commuting in heavy rush hour traffic, some suburban driving, and maybe 100 on the highway. I'm very pleased with this mileage.
our cars had the burning smell for the first couple days but it's gone away quickly.
I do have a faint rattle noise somewhere in the dash though. Other than that I love this car!
only weird things i've run into so far were losing all my settings (Day 1, think the other key fob was too close to the car and they got saved to it) and today my light ring stayed in the throbbing, green mode after doing an auto-stop (went back to normal operation after doing another auto-stop).
what air pressures is everyone running in their tires? my computer says around 40psi which is what i got used to running in my TDI for the best mileage and wear on my tires with all the highway driving. not great for ride comfort though.

Got the graphics today--boy, they ain't subtle!
They will take some getting used to, compared to the side stripes on my Chili Red (not shown in the signature picture.) (Gee, I have to do a new sig block, too!)

I like them, and if for some reason, they don't work for you, they come off easy enough.
Looks like you're ready to be the lead for your upcoming event

Our car shows around 37 psi while driving. We have nitrogen in the tires.
I picked up my car yesterday. Mini of Portland did a first class job on the prep and the car looked fantastic. Unfortunately I had to drive it 150 miles home in a driving rainstorm. I am very pleased with the whole experience. I will spend today figuring out the nuances of the electronics. Pictures when the weather allows.
I've had no complaints at all, except that the headlights are aimed a little low, even on brights. We had this on the R56, too, and I suspect it's because MINI assumes there will be more weight in the back seat. Once they were adjusted a tad up, we were fine. If we drove on level roads, I might leave them as is, but there are so many hills and deer in Arkansas that it's unsafe. We'll stop by the dealer on the way to a meeting Monday night.
The only other thing was the nav system code, but I've since managed to get it to work. Oh, and I saw a dead fly inside the right taillight. I don't know if it was American or British, but when I went to show Hubby, it was gone and I haven't seen it since. If I see any moisture, I'll let the dealer handle it, but so far we've had no rain.
Going Monday for them to take some measurements / give me a proof, then likely later in the week.
mkdiehl--you got me curious, wondering what the Owner's Lounge would say now. It still says the car is at the VDC, and that the estimated delivery day is 10/16. Funny--I've been driving it since 10/14!
My biggest concern right now? A name! I mean, geeze, if the hospital had let us leave without naming our 2 kids, they'd probably still be running around with no names. We're no good at it. Suggestions? I rolled the car over and looked at the tail pipes--it's definitely a boy.

Get after your MA. Mine knew nothing about when it would get to the dealership until it actually showed up, but I was lucky - it showed up roughly (within a week) when the OL said it would. OL said 10/8, then 10/5, then 10/8 again. Mine was released on 10/2 and showed up on 10/7 (but my dealer is not far from VDC). Ask-MINI should be able to tell you if it was released to the trucking company at least. (BTW, OL still said at VDC days after I took delivery - it's not updated real time.)
Picked up F56
I picked up the car I ordered on June 6 yesterday, Oct 19 2014
British racing green Cooper S Hardtop. Bluetooth, Black Cosmos 17in wheels.
Anybody got a link on how to reset the Service Interval Light for the Oil change service. Its not on,10,000 miles in a day is hard to do, but I am going to do the oil changes since I am 150 miles from the Free oil change. Mini Mania doesnt list the F56 procedure to reset

That's very close to mine; completion date was 7/7. Is yours an automatic S? They took about another week to release.
