F55/F56 Week 27 build -- this is your status thread!
the901 is on point with teaching a man to fish. Great great thread linked in the post above this one.
I got my F56 order in on 8/18 (and it went out that night and nearly immediately into production due to some fortunate luck on my end). Production can take a week or two to begin, but once initiated takes 8 days. Then it's about a day or two to get down to the docks. Shipping will depend on whether you're going through the Panama Canal. Ro/Ro Boats (roll on/roll off) going to the West Coast come through every two weeks or so. From then it's about 25 days on the Atlantic and Pacific before arriving in Port Hueneme, California. Then it's off to the Vehicle Destination Center for as little as a few days or as much as a few weeks (depending on the backlog and whether or not there was any damage due to shipping). From then it probably depends on how close your dealership is to the VDC. For me it means about another week before making it out to Colorado, and then a bit of time at the dealership as they get the last few items prepped for you.
You can see the timeline from my R56 in my signature. Nothing's too different between then and now.

Thanks all for the info, it looks like my car will probably just miss the 9/22 WW boat leaving Southampton (should be finishing production on/around 9/24), and probably won't leave until 10/7, which means I won't have her until November sometime. That's more than a little disappointing, but nothing I can do except be patient.
Go back to the first few pages of Week 27 where some great Mini owners figured out how to track their Mini once you have a VIN, and there you will see the name Wallenius, a shipping company that carries most of the Minis to North America. Using their tracking feature you will be able to follow your car across the ocean. I think it takes about a week after production to show up on the dock....others in Week 27 are the experts on this matter. Have fun following your car.

Plan on about 3 weeks to get it across the Pond, assuming no special delays in getting a ship OR getting EPA approval.
I know mine has been produced & shipped. When I called corporate BMW about a week ago, they said it was in the port on the west coast. I would like to know from you all when you first learned that final release of our new Minis was held up. Thanks.
Mine arrived at VDC on 7/23. In the morning on 7/29 (expected delivery 7/30), my MA told me it's being held at VDC indefinitely and he doesn't know why. Learned later on 7/29 from MiniWuff here that there was a possible EPA hold. Emailed my MA first thing in the morning on 7/30. He confirmed the EPA hold - which he just found out about from the Sales Manager about 9pm on 7/29 (in other words, AFTER we knew about it here). In fact, he told me that when his Sales Manager called and told him about it, he told the SM that he has a customer that will already know about this. This forum is priceless if you're looking for information about just about anything.
Hello fellow Mini friends. I just got an email from my MA stating that according to her general manager, all Mini's being held at the port are expected to ship to the dealers on October 1st regardless of the test results. She stated that if my car is loaded on the 1st, it should arrive that Saturday or Sunday and begin delivery prepping. I am supposed to talk with her more this week regarding the game plan so I will keep you all informed.
If they can start selling cars on October 1st, why can't they start shipping them to dealerships now? I think I remember someone in this thread saying that they had actually seen a '15 on a lot somewhere that couldn't be sold?
I emailed my MA on Wednesday for a status update, and he replied that cars are supposed to ship to the dealer Oct 1, and he would contact me to schedule pickup when they get the car. Basically zero communication from dealer during this whole wait -- though I did get some info a couple of times but it was always contact initiated by me. Good thing I got a good deal before delay, and then Mini corporate has been good on communication and working out a way to be compensated.
Hopefully will have the car in two weeks -- starting to get re-excited again...

I expect that the first cars won't be delivered till around 10/9. Logistics is going to be a problem as there are only so many carriers. Oct. 1st is a Wednesday, I can't believe any dealers will be delivering any cars before Monday, 10/6. Cars still need dealer prep and then can be customer delivered. I would not expect a phone call for a pick up on 10/1.

Double post incoming!
Just got an email from my dealer, partially to apologize for the phone call mixup, and partially to let me know that my MINI is built and ready to ship! Checked the OL, and sure enough, I'm now 'awaiting transport'. He estimates about a month left before it's at the dealership.

What you say is true, PGQ. They can't "sell" 2015 hardtops. Mostly they can't sell them because they don't have any to sell. They CAN take your order though. They're not actually sold (and MA gets no $) until you drive it away.
I was told 8-10 weeks if I ordered 9/8/14. Luckily I found one about 4 hours from me that had exactly what I was going to order (plus a couple additions actually)
Probably a legal thing. They are not legal until they show up on EPA's list 1 Oct. When the cars are at the VDC they still belong to MINI USA. I don't think they can legally send them to a dealer until 1 Oct. Once they are at the dealer I think the dealership owns them and nothing to keep them from selling them to customers. Keeping them at the VDC is the only way MINI USA ca control them.
