Might as well start deciding on what goes on after the run
flats.
To start, I usually go to TireRack and see what is the best rated.
More run flats?
High performance with stiff sidewalls?

I'd recommend Conti DWS or DW(summer) tires.
+1. I have these on all my steeds in the stable. Awesome tires for my needs and taste.

Rim size is?
Location? (If you live in the southwest, for example, tires age faster there than in the northeast)
Did you want separate tires for summer and winter or would A/S do?
Budget?
If you are OK with A/S then you will be hard pressed to do better than the Conti Extreme Contact DWS. I live in Az, tires age fast out here, as a result they tend to lose wet traction sooner than a cooler climate. The DWS is far better in that respect than any other tire I've used, in fact the DWS has great wet and dry traction.
FYI, Going from RFs to conventional tires means you will lose some lateral stiffness.
While I've not used them, the Bridgestone Sport RE760s have also been spoken of well.
All valid concerns.
My home is along the coast in southern CA.
Sunny, salty, rarely rains, rot is a concern.
I'm too old to be a hot rod.
Too young not to order a manual.
Not too worried about longevity.
300 rating on the rubber compound is minimum.
I typically sport Michelins on my vehicles, 911, MB Sprinter, and now
a MCS manual in Moonwalker Grey.

But .........
This time I am "Not" going to go with any tire that is not a Run-Flat.
The 2014 MCS we just took delivery on has the optional 18" wheel & tire package.
It drives smooth in the default position with no real adverse roughness.
So, when it comes time to change tires I'll just check and see who has the best rated Run-Flats in the 18" size and go with them.
