Best replacement tires

I need to get new tires for my 08 clubman. It has the run flat tires on it and although tread is good they have flat spots and are super noisey. I need to know what the best tires to buy would be, not the most expensive just good every day use. We will not be racing but we do drive "spirited".

Michelin Pilot Sport seems to be highly regarded here.

I've been happy with both the Bridgestones and the Continentals I have had. Run flats suck! I cannot wait to get rid of them on my latest Mini...I feel like I'm driving on wagon wheels.

Bridgestone driveguard runflats are comfortable and go on sale at Costco from time to time. Like right now, till 8/30. Way better ride than continentals and same grip.

I'm thinking to get the bridgestone S04PP to replace the OEM RE040 RF. Can't believe why the OEM cost so much! Even the P Zero RF are a lot cheaper???

Check the treadware ratings. The PZero is cheaper, but it doesn't last as long.

I am a spirited daily driver who does not want to spend a lot of money. I have been happily running the non-RF Dunlop Derizzas intermittently for several years now. I just installed the DZ102s on my R59S. The 102s have a 480 treadware rating and only cost ~$100 per tire from Tire Rack in size 205/45-17.

Edit: TireRack sells 2 PZero runflats, the OE version and the "non-OE but exact same tire" version. The non OE was $135 each when I put them on my son's (my old) R53 a few months back.

I've also seen a lot of praise for Continental's ExtremeContact DWS tires.

I'm thinking of picking some up when my Potenza RFs give it up. Can't wait.

For summer tires, I liked the Bridgestone s-04 I had until a week ago. I had 16" Rota RB rims with 205/55r16's at $105 a piece. Best tire I could find for a 16" rim. Wheels were stolen and I'm going up to 17" wheels so there are many more choices. Going with the Michelin PSS in 215/45r17 this go around.

I have Continental DWS tires on 2 other cars and they do pretty well for an all season. They are pretty soft in general so they ride pretty well. Seem to have more road hazard issues with them then other tires I've had in the past.

Thanks for all the info guys. Sorry it took so long to get back on. We have been moving and internet isn't working yet. We bought this mini from a non mini dealer, and since June 20 they have had the car longer than us. There was a scraping noise in the RF. They couldn't figure it out and instead of proper diagnosis they threw some parts at it and out and out lied to us. Long story short, they sent it to mini and service manager told them it needed tires that they were flat spotted and not good enough to drive on. In the end we got 4 new tires of a brand I've never heard of (Doral), very inexpensive. Did some research and seem to have fairly good reviews. In the end we have 2 rotors, 2 calipers, 4 new pads, 4tires and all seems well.

A few years ago I put the Bridgestone Pole Position 02 on my MCoupe and had a great street ride. Never did get that on the track though.

Note that treadwear numbers are done by the manufacturer and thus only reference the relative wear of the manufacturer's tire, not reliable comparing it to other brands.

Last summer I picked up a set of closeout Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110's, and they've been great.

In the final analysis, any high quality performance tire will be a vast improvement over run-flats :(
