F55/F56/F57 Stock Problems/IssuesDiscussions related to warranty related issues and repairs, or other problems with the OEM parts and software for F55/F56 MINI Cooper AND Cooper S models.
I just recently installed the Dinan Elite Performance Tuner on my Mini Cooper S a few days ago and I lost one of the locking tabs / connectors to the pressure sensor. See the pictures below.
The first 2 pictures shows the sensor that I am talking about. You can also look at this Dinan installation guide. On page 2 and 3, I am referencing the #1 sensor.
I pulled the locking tab out and it dropped it into the car and cant find it anymore.... yeah.. beginner mistake
Anyways, I think the tab looks like the one pictured in pictures 3 and 4. I tried searching everywhere and I cant find a replacement. Posting here to see if anyone knows what part that locking tab is.
Yeah I did all that, as instructed in the installation guide.
It actually drove fine for about 5000 miles with no code (except maybe for initial drive).
After I took it in for an oil change, the code keeps popping up an a regular, especially if I mash down the accelerator.
I was reading this thread on NAM and it seems like the phantasms was dealing with code issues as well but after MINI reset and reboot his computer did it fix all the codes? : https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...l-p12a9-2.html
I do have an appointment with MINI coming up for a service so may ask them if its possible that they do it.
Also I been getting an p12a8 error code repeatedly and I think this tab may be the reason why.
If anyone else has ran into this problem and know how to prevent the error code form coming up, let me know!
Hi jyu19735,
I don’t believe the tab would be an issue since you have the pressure from the zip tie holding it into place.
Have you tried to remove the module, wait the fifteen minutes and startup the MINI to see if the code or CEL goes away?
- Maybe a defective/failing module or incorrect part?
A friend had a defective module and was having a similar issue to yours.
I mentioned an incorrect part just from experience with NM Engineering’s power module. They used to have two different part numbers for different year MINIs. Now their newer one is backwards compatible.

Hopefully this issue gets resolved

Hmm I can give it a try and see.
I normally just clear the code when I get it but I will leave the code next time it pops up and try and remove the module and see.
I had issues with both NM, and Dinan.
The Burger tuning JB+ has been perfect, same power, but no issues, and less expensive.
Well, Burger raised his price $40 after the chip shortage!!

I’ve had the NM module on my car for 5 years and approximately 50,000 miles with no issue. I have it on the high setting and run 93 octane gas. About every 4-5 fill ups, I add a little octane booster, but that’s it. Never an issue.
