Cold killed my speedo! Slapping babies...
After being slammed with two big snow storms, I had to dig out. The battery died a week before but I removed and charged it and my car worked fine. Then bam, snow snow snow, as the pic suggests. 1.5hrs of digging later and my chariot is free only to have a bunch of oddities. The Check Engine soon light, brake light and one next to it are on nearly all the time aaaaaand my Traction control light and tire pressure lights are on as well. But the biggie is that neither my analog speedometer or my digi speedometer work. The needle just sits there laughing at me
... not moving. Any ideas?

Try this:
1. With the key in the ignition, but in the off position, press and hold down the odometer reset button with one hand, while holding the button down, switch the key in the ignition to position 1 (first click) with the other hand.
2. The screen will have a number and the word “tESt”.
3. Scroll through the numbers by pressing the odometer rest button, through to 19 and wait a moment. (Note: the number order is: 1,2,10,19)
4. The message will say 19 "L i-off", flash to "L i-on", and back to "L i-off" again. When "log i-off" appears, press the odometer rest button again. You are now in the system.
5. Scroll through to 21. tESt and wait a moment. 21.0 rESEt will come up. Press the button once.
6. Your gauges will now make some sounds and movements. Once the lights come back on start your car. You have now reset your ECU and your MINI is now ready to relearn the new mods and your driving style.
This has worked for others.
Good Luck

It didn't work. My abs, brake, and ses lights are still on and the big speedo and digi speedo work intermittently. The dsc light and tire pressure light are still on as well. I don't know what to do. What's my next step?
It is caused by a bad wheel speed sensor.....
Do a search....
A hunk of snow or ice might have cut/damaged one of the wires...the sensor is basically a magnetic picup that is inserted in to wheel hub...measures the wheel rpms....there is one at EACH wheel....
A shop will simple plug into the cars computer (a ODB2-consumer grade unit WILL NOT DO THIS)and determine which sensor is not working...
then replace it.

So I took it to Mini of Manhattan and...I need a new DSC module because it's not responding. They say it's a huge job. Are they right? They quoted me a lot of money to fix it. It's scary. What do you all think?
