Lesson learned: Never code a car with a coding index older than the one you have

I am trying to figure out what needs to be turned on to make the Heartbeat work on a non-alarmed 2011. Is there a 2010 or 11 coder out there WITH an alarm that can share trc files for the the SPEG and KOMBI modules? Or does someone already know the answer for 2011's? Thanks!

Do you actually have the LED unit on top of the rev counter? Reason I am asking, I saw a Coupe lately and noticed that the LED unit was blacked-out i.e. it is no longer installed.

Anyone care to share their full fsw_psw.trc of a 2011 manual MCS? I'm trying to see if there is a way to add the pop and burble to the 07-10s. They run the same software, so it may be hidden in there somewhere, TIA.

I don't think it will come from a tracefile edit. If you look at the DME trace file code there is almost nothing to change in there. As long as your car has a very recent software update, the only way I can think of to get the pop and burble is to change your build date to at least the first LCI model in both of the VOs, then default the DME.

The problem I see in doing this is there are new engines in the LCI S model (N18), that replaced the N14. You may need to also change the engine model in the VO to a JCW since they kept the N14 for the first LCI year.

It seems like it could be a risky endeavor that could brick the DME.

I don't know if you have all the wires and components in there. If someone from 2010 or older can unscrew there's and take a pic I can check what stuff we need to switch it out

If the engines are the same, then you most probably need to update your ECU with WinKFP. There are however numerous software versions for each engine, so I do not know if simply updating will do the trick... You could also force a different version of the software on the ECU, without changing the built date etc. But you would need to know the exact assembly number (ZBNummer) you want to flash.

And offcourse, a flash failure is a possibility which would brick your ECU. It is possible to revive it, but not that easy...

Hi Juppers,

I have the same problem with my Kombi module and my car thinks its a coupe with a faulthy spoiler.

How did you find the solution from the other forum? Was it by updating datens? please share if possible.

Thanks!

Thanks!!

I have v43 datens, and the latest EDIBAS 7.20, I can read all module but RAD, and simply cannot write to the car. If I write to the car, after writing, nothing happens.

Do you think its my cable having problems? My car have been to the dealer for an update in oct/2011.

thanks!

What do you mean with "nothing happens"? Some modules will flash after coding (i.e. KOMBI, CCC), but with modules like the FRM you simply cannot tell (unless the function you coded works or not).

Do you have a 2011+/ LCI model car? If so, I bet the pin 7-8 connection needs to be desoldered on your cable. Many of the newer BMW models need this change made.

Would it be wise to go ahead and short the 7-8 pin on the cable to correct this?

I am looking to work on a '12 MCS and want to make sure that variables or out of the equation.

Looks like they may need to be separated.

http://www.bmwcoding.com/showwiki.ph...PIN+7-8+Switch

Pin 8 used to be connected to the can bus, but now BMW changed it to an Ethernet pin in the cars. Seems most of the cables come with pin 7&8 soldered together. Lots of e90 people have had to change their cables. Looks like a pretty straightforward modification. .

Hello,
I have a big trouble coding my sunroof, can anyone help me?

I have a 2007 R56S, i used the v38 datens.
I tried to code the one touch sunroof, but since the car warns me that there is a problem with the "anti pinching". When i open the sunroof, it stop every second, then have to push the button several times.
So i tried to put back the orginial TRC, no better
I even tried to use a blank MAN file, even worse now when i push the sunroof button nothing is happening.

Do someone know what is wrong?
Or can someone send me the original TRC file of the SHD unit.

Thanks a lot

Was your car recently updated? If so, you may need to use newer datens. Over at bmwcoding.com you can find the v43 datens for the mini. Try with the newer Datens, as I believe your are simply using too old software.

PS: It does not matter if you code it with a blank file: the default values are not determined by the unit, but by the datens you have. If the datens are old, it means they do not include the index for the current software and coding with those will produce all kinds of problems.

Thanks for the hint,
About the update of the car, i don't have a clue because i just bought it 2 months ago, and the car is almost 5 years old...
I tried with v40 datens, no success. The sunroof is still stoping every seconds when i push the button and still the default "anti pinch blablabla".
With the v43 datens, there is an error with the VIN.

Can someone give me his SHD TRC file, so that i can compare with mine? My original TRC file for the SHD modul may be corrupted...

Do i have to erase the default code on the car "anti pinch default" before i start coding again? Or will it disappear if i succeed ?
