ElectricalFor discussions regarding wiring up electrical modifications such as radar detectors, brake light mods, power sockets, and driving lights in Clubman (R55), Cooper and Cooper S (R56), and Cabrio (R57) MINIs.
I got the 4 pulse version...installation was a little tricky. There is not room on the R56 to mount the circuit board next to the light. I extended the supply cable, and mounted it below the screw on the left side of the rear hatch. Took about 30 minutes total.
I bought the pulser for my '07 MCS and found the same issues with space inside the housing ... so I chose to remove the screw-connect terminal on the edge of the pulser that goes to the LEDs and soldered in a discarded cordless-phone-battery-harness in its place.
This little trick gave me a little extra wire to maneuver with, and allowed me to lay the pulser-board FLAT against the LED bar for most of the length of the pulser, which made for a much better fit inside the housing -- just make sure you match the harness polarity back to the original configuration.
I put the Pulsar (4) in while on my lunch hour at work. I like it. Really makes the braking stand out. Cheap but good looking modification with safety in mind.
Thank you sooo much "JMike". Your post on 9-17-07 saved my sanity after installing the pulsar today. Couldn't get it to fit under the molding no matter what I tried. THEN I looked at this thread and there was the answer. Fit right in and so did the molding! BTW, brake pulsars were first used on motorcycles in the '70's. They really work and if they "annoy" the car behind, tough! They're supposed to make that tail-gating troglodyte pay attention.
I just installed two this morning -- one each in my and my better-half's MINIs. Took about an hour total time, with a little time spent soldering the supplied wire extensions to the factory connector. I found that the flasher unit fits inside the trim piece a little easier with the wires lengthened.
The flashers are working great. Can't wait to see if I'm tailgated less in traffic.

A little late to say your welcome but, your welcome...

We installed the GOMINIGO pulsar after going on a club run. It was really noticeable, being in a long line of MINIs, you could see which ones had it and which didn't. I have definitely noticed that the car behind me is more careful now. Here on the coast, people cross the street randomly and you are always stopping at short notice and unexpectedly!!
Still need help installing this on my 11 R 57. Which color wire go into the pulse unit?
I have a brown and a yellow/ black. If I connect one way I get nothing and if I connect the other way normal operation ( no flash )
