EIM Wintertime Chat Room
If you're still under 48K miles I would think that it would be a warranted item.
does this apply:
The customer complains of a rattle noise from the engine during cold start-up. The rattle noise will occur more frequently when driving short distances. The rattle noise will increase with RPM, but will dissipate after approximately three seconds if left to idle. Increasing the RPM slightly will increase the intensity, but will also shorten the duration of the rattle noise. The noise is more prevalent when the outside temperature is approximately 15°Celsius or below.
If not, the thow out bearing sounds like and accurate diag with out hearing it or seeing it.
have head of that before aswell

I will most definitely bring it up when I take it in for servicing soon. I have brought it up before but they just blow it off with some lame technical or not so technical jargon. This will be last servicing under warranty and to have my MINI running like it just came off the showroom floor is not asking too much is it? Ofcourse not. But will Patrick MINI see it that way?
Thanks for he info guys.

Just make sure your specific complaint is documented on the service invoice. That way, if they blow you off and later (post-warranty) the noise evolves into a larger issue you'll have evidence that the problem should have been taken care of during the warranty period -- when you first complained about it.
I know that is how we do things at PMC. Usually if it is noted that there was an issue with something and we can not get it fixed or can not duplicate it under warranty and it was noted, we can do a "goodwill" post warranty and still cover it.
Put the summer shoes on this evening. Hope I didn't jinx the weather by doing so...
Shadowfax needed a bath real bad, so I decided to stop off at the power wash to remove the worst of the gunk before coming home and doing the bulk of it in the garage. I ended up spraying my "cyclops" LED third brake light too closely with the high pressure stream; when I got home I discovered it had pools of soapy water in it and the lens was fogging up.
Fortunately the thing is pretty easy to remove and disassemble, so I washed out the lens under the sink and I used my air compressor to blow out all of the moisture. Let it dry, put it back together, reinstalled it, and it works fine. Disaster averted.
OBTW, for anyone who uses iGoogle as their Google interface I created a nifty theme using the lineup pic from our meet in Balltown last November. Just click on the "change theme" link in the upper right and do a search on "Iowa MINI Cooper" and you'll find it.

Are you looking for a red one? Any specifics?

There is a black one at Dan Kruse in Dubuque. He has been there a while. The dealership is right across the street from our Dubuque office. I think he needs a good home!
