Drivetrain Dyno Charts
Dyno Charts
Why don't we make a thread specifically for dyno charts? It could be used as a quick reference for questions regarding how much power certain mods make.
People should post the following:
Model:
Year:
Transmission:
Gear Used:
Dyno:
Modifications:
Atmospheric conditions (aka Temperature, humidity, etc.):
SAE Correction or Actual WHP:

I'll start this off.
Model: Cooper S
Year: 2003
Transmission: Manual
Gear Used:
Dyno: Mustang MD-250
Modifications: A comparison between a JCW car and a stock MCS with our TurboKompressor kit.
Atmospheric Conditions: Unknown

I will post up a few more charts, but I want a lot of people to contribute to this. Lets see those dyno charts everyone!!

This is all very interesting. I dont have my Dyno run scanned into the computer but i can give you the number!
2004 JCW
Added- 2% oversized crank pulley, alta intercooler, alta CAI, Ultrick Cam, Nology wires. and screamon demon pack, JCW ecu upgrade and jcw injectors.
Dyno- - Dyno Pak
Whp- 171.1
This sure seems low to me. it was very cold outside and a snow storm had just moved oout that afternoon. so i dont know the temp or the pressures!
This was in Salt Lake City, Utah, elevation about 3,800 feet.

Sorry I didnt really state, But to my knowledge there was no sae correction, the 171 was coming from the wheel.
I always was told and thought that SAE is were the dyno takes all info of the enviroment around it, like temp, humidity, elevation. This makes it even for eveyone around the United States to compare even numbers. That way the dyno in AZ in the summer reads the same as the dyno in Alaska. It creates an even playing feild from everyone to compare. And yes it is all wheel horsepower.

I personally don't put much stock in SAE correted numbers. The biggest problem I have with it is that different people will use different numbers to correct the whp numbers into SAE corrected bhp numbers.
If MINI fanatic #1 takes a stock MCS and dynos it to show 150whp, they believe the drivetrain loss to be X amount. Now MINI fanatic #2 runs another stock MCS on another dyno and gets 145whp and believes the drivetrain loss to be X amount. While not much of a difference now, if these two MINI fanatics were to do some mods, and calculate their new believed bhp numbers, thee numbers would begin to differ more and more.
This is why I personally like to see a dyno sheet with uncorrected numbers, it allows people to see a specific measurable growth with each mod or group of mods. I know most people do not have the ability, time or money to be constantly dynoing their cars, I just personally take horsepower claims, without a dynosheet, with a grain of salt.

no, SAE corrections are just corrections for differences in barometric pressure, humidity, and temperature, they still report whp numbers. My dyno chart was SAE corrected, as the dyno operator has his dyno hooked up to an RSS feed for weather data for his zip code. My guess is that schooner2's dyno was uncorrected, and the lower barometric pressure was the reason he was seeing such low numbers for a JCW car with mods. . .
BHP number are numbers that are recorded on an engine dyno, not a chassis dyno.
Chassis dyno= what you and I and everybody else dynos on
Engine dyno=dyno where they only hook the engine up to it, no tranny, no nothing else, so drivetrain loss, accessories, everything else isn't connected.
