Gear Used: 4th
Dyno: Mustang MD-250
Modifications: An extremly modified car with a custom solid lifter head, water to air intercooler...etc.
Atmospheric conditions (aka Temperature, humidity, etc.): right around 50 degrees F
SAE Correction or Actual WHP:
Uncorrected 216.6 whp and 172 lb ft.
Corrected: 211.3 whp and 169.4 lb ft.

Notes: We used the correction factor on the second run to account for the extremely cold air in the dyno room at the time. This was the first non-turbo car to go above 200whp on our dyno, so he got his dyno runs for free.

A few days ago I went to a shop just outside of Columbus (Dynotune) to watch my friend's beastly GT28R turbo VW GTI get dyno tuned. It was a good learning experience.

From what I was told...

The industry standard is the Dynojet dyno. It is the most common dyno in the USA and what most aftermarket shops refer to when comparing power. The dynojet software lets you pick from SAE corrected, std, or actual whp.

A Mustang type dyno gives its version of whp, which is usually 10-15% lower than the Dynojet sae hp. Apparantly there is a program out for mustang dyno owners to convert their numbers to dynojet numbers.

Peace,
I see the numbers are out on the CosmicPurple. As far as the differences in dynos... This car dynoed at 238 whp on a dynojet in the same week it dynoed on Helix's Mustang at 194 whp with the same engine mods as today. On both days temps were in the low 90's. Thanks for the free dyno Eric!!! I wonder what the winter time dynojet numbers are?

By the way, I was trying to have Eric rev it up to the limiter but he stopped at 7300 RPM. And i'm not sure the correction factor had anything to do with temps. It's the old Helix uncorrected chart at 211 and the new corrections at 216. After charting 194 as the highest non turbo/ tc the 1st time, i was looking forward to the Helix challenge on a better day. Thanks again Eric.

04 blumini dyno run

Just finished installing Stage II head and put her on a dyno last Friday.
Conditions: 60 deg. Clear. Car was still hot after 100 mile commute.
Runs 1 & 2 were baseline runs performed before Stage II head install.

218 WHP
179 WTQ

very pleased

Darn it--for me this just shows how much I'd get with a new head...I have nearly everything else, and about the same WHP as your "before" showed.

Good one, blumini!!!

I've been through all this before too:
http://www.mini2.com/forum/mini-coop...-theorise.html

For what it's worth dmh makes some good points on comparing dyno plots. It's a pretty futile excercise. On the same day with the same dyno and same operator my stock MCS got 106kW and a friend's got 118kW. Both stock, his was about one year older than mine. So varying results from factory are prone to skewing dyno results somewhat. Still, it's fun enough posting the results.

I've not taken my car back on the dyno since fitting a 15% pulley and MTH tuner file about 4,500kms ago.

Wow, what was the ambient temp of today's dyno. It's amazing what cold air density will do for a mini. Pardon me if I've missed it, but do you have a list of mods somewhere?
