Yeah the Perrin sounds sweet....nice hiss, not obnoxious. I am having an issue with it sticking open everyonce and a while, which is annoying when u lose all that boost! I need to disassemble it and go over it. If it still does it, then I will replace it.

Trickle,
The BOV should be adjusted to the 2-3 groove. Don't worry about loosing any boost as that BOV doesn't need a spring to function. The more important thing is for it to blow off so there is no compressor surge. You could try cutting the spring in half, and turning the cap to 1-2 grooves. It will work very well set this way.

Thanks Jeff, it actually works quite fine now, except every once and a while and stays stuck open & I need to get in there with a screw driver and pop it shut. Any ideas as to why it get stuck fully open?

Yup, it is open too far. Meaning that if the cap is loosened too far, the piston can get stuck. Screwing it down further will solve the problem. Also try cutting the spring in half. If you don't like it, i will send you another one!

Ok Jeff, I took the BOV off & checked it out. It looks like anything past 2 rings and the piston actually comes out of the cylinder a lil enough to **** it and wont allow it back in. So I cut the spring down amost half but not quite, it now blows off much quicker & even in 1st gear which it didnt do before. I hope this helps me from getting the P1262 code which is telling me to much pressure on deceleration. I will let you know if this clears it up!

Thanks again!

Although I may never get this far on my car, where do you go or what do you do when it is time to get new pistons in order to run higher boost? When you have to upgrade your pistons is a whole new cylinder head involved with this upgrade or is it just stronger pistons?

U may want to take it to a repuable shop to do the piston change out. No you don't need a new head, but it wouldnt hurt at that time to put on a head that had some work. That's what I am planning on doing sometime next year, unless i toast the pistons before then.

Yeah, im already looking into places to get a piston job. tricklex, you have any places you recommend? I can't wait to up the boost to the high 20's, now i'll have to be looking for places where they sell 100 octane gas, it just more expensive, the more you do!!

Tricklex, did you loose the error code now you cut the spring. Also, what other codes are you getting since you put on the kit?

The Hydra is very close. Its all working great, and in a month or so parts will be shipping! Cruise control, traction control, all works and CEL's are gone. Should be doing some dyno runs in a week or so, on a stock pulley car, and with the 15% pulley!

From what people say Alta's manifold is not the most attractive compared to to other kits', so does anyone have pics of what the other manifolds look like? I don't have any problem as long as it is functionable.

I haven't seen others, but it is all high polished tubing, so it looks pretty nice. The pic on our site isn't they way it looks. Its not secrect, but we didn't release pics of the final part at SEMA for a reason. New pics will be on our completely different site soon!

Oh yeah I totaly dig the look of yours. I have the kit at my house waiting to be installed. So I don't know if that is just the problem, that most people have seen the picture of the unpolished product. But I think its nice looking.

I dont have a place to do the work yet, but i will find one. Not sure if I will take it there, or just ship them the engine. Thats what i normally do for my bikes over the years, just ship the engine, but they are a little easier to pull!

I am still getting the p1262 code, I did speak with another guy this weekend who has the SPI kit. He gets it to, apparently the Helix kit is the only one currently that doesnt. I am told Eric has a trick to fix this, but wont share....fair enuff..

On the exhaust manifold, you should really see the SPI one. Its pretty impressive albiet a maze of Ti tubing. I think the Alta is the cleanest as its short and simple.

Jeff, so....lets talk about this Hydra.....need a real world flogging?? What could I stand to gain from this over the Apexi?

Thanks!

Is there a link to where I can see the SPI kit laid out in a similar fashion as the alta kit is laid out in its pictures?

Swcheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! do I have a laptop?.........haaaaaaaaaaaahahaha hahahha </composes oneself> Why yes I have a few lying around.....

As far as I know the SPI kit is made to order as the Header is pretty labour intensive...so I dont think they have it lying around in a kit form.

Hubie keeps them in stock... but has never found it nessisary to lay it out and take a pic... it comes with everything you need... to make 300hp...

FYI, it is now the Fireballed! Racing Kit.... if you would like to talk to Hubie about it... try the forum...
