So M7 Installed The AGS on my 2004 and....

It makes the Alta sound like crap. The sound coming out of this thing cant be explained any better than Peter himself has put it... "Un-Freakin-Believable". Its been said that Alta's sound like a running faucet.... well if thats true this sounds like a waterfall.... and thats just at idle.

Some of the SCMM members got a glimpse at it tonight, and some of the GoldcountryMINI guys will peek at it tomorrow... but until then youll just have to take my word for it.

As for power, its definetely got a edge over my previous HAI So for all of you who say its a one off of the HAI... youve got it all backwards. The HAI is a poor man's AGS. Ill get some dyno results in later this week..... however, they will not be as accurate as some of you would like since I have done a few other mods since my last pull on a dyno.

Randy and Peter, on this guys.

Hi Jason

It was a pleassure finaly meeting you and your buddy....

As a developer of products, it's always incredibly rewarding to see and hear
peoples reaction to your ideas.
The M7 AGS is very different, nothing on the market place will come even close design wise. And when you see it installed you realize that the design makes sense.

As for the sound.....it is un-freaking beleivable giving me goose bumps just thinking about it

I was able to see this up close yesterday and it really looks great! Already having the alta, I wasn't that interested in it until I saw what it is all about. The original pipe is laughable compared to the m7 piece. The air flow has a much straighter and larger path. They have obviously worked hard on this product and are very excited about tuning minis.

The sound is definitely unique and makes a cool "whish" when blipping the throttle, kind of like a turbo. It's hard to say with jcampos' magnaflow, but the noise seems to be less intrusive in the cabin yet you could faintly hear it from blocks away.

One thing is certain, even as a pasanger I could tell that the car was pulling harder and smoother on the ride back. We were both smiling after we accelerated onto the first on ramp.

Peter and Randy, Thanks again for having us over and I am looking foward to the new products you shared with us.

Gonna be busy all week during lunch time, but we should hook up in the evening or next weekend. The thing really is "un-freakin-believable". Im not imagining the power.... everyone who has got into my car has said something without being asked. Ive even been told the car has a deeper note now

Ive got 7 more days to hit 200 whp. Thats my goal... for this month Throwin it on the dyno thursday

Good to hear the results Jason. Congrats. How was the install? Is it something your average wrench jockey can handle?
Oh, and did you get the throttle body?

IF thats true, the AGS is good for a fair amount... I dont like saying numbers because well... this is NAM. The difference between the HAI with stock throttle body and AGS with the M7 64/62 throttle body is very noticable... not just to me, but everyone who has been in the car. A guy (002 on NAM) rode down to LA with me so he got a good 5 hours of what my car feels like, and the very first ramp onto the freeway we both knew the car had more power. Having now taken it for a drive with just myself, I can tell you the car pulls MUCH harder up high than the HAI did.... Ill deliver some numbers later this week to everyone.... they will not be extremely accurate because of other mods Ive done since my last pull, but you can get a fair idea of what this system can do.

Let me chime in a little regarding the install of the M7 AGS .

Compared to all the other systems on the market the M7 AGS is indeed a more complex and involved install. Personaly I can do it in an hour, unless there's
a bunch of car crazy maniacs hanging over my shoulder, asking questions
chatting about life or sex

Seriously it's not that bad and if you follow our fantastic install guide, even a novice can pull a of a succesfull install. The AGS systems will start to trickle out by tomorrow as we are ramping up production.

Yup.... easier than a supercharger pulley, harder than an alta CAI. Really though, I think the hardest part is just getting your hands into the tight places. If youve got a good set of tools, you should be just fine

Thanks for the info Peter, I think I'll have to give it a go (after I check out Jason's car of course ). Care to comment on that 2hp number for the TB?

Thanks

Chuck

Giving a set HP number to any component and assuming that that number holds up in any combination of any other components is naive at best and that is being generous. What you get out of one item very often depends on what else you have working in concert with that item. The only way to know conclusively would be to run that car with and without the TB to get a " number ". However this would still not allow you to make a blanket statement that that throttle body would give X amount of hp on every application. It would just tell you what the throttle body was worth horse power wise on the car tested. Additionally there are throttle bodies from 62mm to 65mm and variations in between which would also prevent any knowledgable tuner from assiging a set HP rating as well.

Good morning guys.

I'm laughing just thinking about the way Jason's car sounded yesterday when we hooked up. The word to describe the sound IS as stated, unbeweavable. People WILL be braking their necks looking to see what is driving towards them.

Any minute now, I'll have mine...
