2005 MCS with UNICHIP -Does it need to be Dyno-Tuned?
I installed a Webb Motorsports UNIchip in my 2005 MCS and have it on Map B
The car already has 15%, Miltek, plugs, wires and Intake from JCW
I'm happy with the power and speed but wonder if I should get it "fine-tuned" on the Dyno by UNIChip folks

I would take it to a dyno to do runs with it installed and with it disconnected, just to see what you got for your money. I am only aware of one such customer dyno:

My experience with tune by mail "chips/programs" has been that most are safe to run. However not every car reacts the same to the same program. What may be rich on my car may be too lean on yours. A custom dyno tune is by far the best. At the very least get some wide band monitoring equipment to see if you are lean/rich. If you are rich you are giving up power, if lean you run the danger of blowing a motor.
Get a dyno done with wide band monitoring and give that info to your chip tuner. If there are any corrections needed they can do it and re-burn your chip. A tail pipe sniffer it not an accurate enough measure. Wide band O2 is the way to go. Not all dyno's can do it. Call around.
Forced induction motors have a narrow margin of A/F ratios to work in. For me the small price of a dyno run is well worth the piece of mind. Much cheaper than a new motor.

I will be taking "RED FURY" on the track and running WOT in competition for a full week, 7-8 tracks, drag strip, skid pads, etc...

His A/F ratio is safe, and his timing is good - I built the car.
I'm sure you could get a few more horsepower out of it by doing a custom tune, but it isn't worth the money most folks want to charge in my opinion. The tune is dead set for the exact modifications you have, just on a different car. There are small variances in the cars, but enough to unleash another 10 horsepower, for instance.

Randy is right on the money....
The tune by table, model or what's been done on another car will get you close to the best you can get out of your rig (you may get lucky and actually have an optimized system) but nothing will account for your particular build but a custom tune. I haven't done anything other than MTH for my Mini, but on my mustang, the custom tune added another 7-10 hp all over the power band (but that's on a 300 hp motor). And it cost about 350-500 to do the custom tune on top of the "chip" starting point. If you're really needing to squeeze every last HP out, get the tune, and don't look at the credit card bill when you sign, because the cost per hp is high. But it doesn't add any weight, and it gets the most out of all the parts that you've put onto your motor, so if you compete it may be manditory. If you just screw around on the track here and there (like I do), then the $ are probably better spent on more track time!

I'm hoping that someone makes a logger/programmer for the Mini soon. They are common for the Fords (the Mustang crowd is wayyy into moding the existing ECU, but there are others like FAST and the like that replace the ECU).
Ssince the Mini isn't my main track car, I'm pretty happy with the MTH. I can keep getting new maps for free as I add mods.

Don't feel bad, many things that make great power on BB chevy's make very little power on a Mini. These little oinkers are tough to extract big HP out of easily. There is stuff that I put on my car that I wasted money on but that is just a learning experience. I am trying to help out the community by showing them what works and what doesn't. Why make the same mistake twice?

I am VERY HAPPY with the Mods and power gains
I just thought I would post to see IF anyone had had the UNICHIP finely tuned to their specific car, after iinstalling
I DO think the car is ready for the ONELAP of AMERICA, after the big brakes go on.... maybe some more tweeks
